Requirements
  • At least 10 years of experience working with process engineers on mechanical equipment, updating P&IDs, and sizing pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, and pressure vessels.
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer licensure in Louisiana or Texas.
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply applicable codes and standards, including ASME BPVC Section VIII; ASME B31.3, B31.4, and B31.8; API 610, 674/675/676, and 682; API 520/521, API 620, API 650, and API 12C; and Title 49 CFR Parts 190–199.
  • Experience working with process engineers on mechanical equipment.
Responsibilities
  • Develop mechanical and piping designs for pipeline facilities, compressor stations, pump stations, tank terminals, and data center facilities, ensuring all work meets ASME standards and American Petroleum Institute practices and standards.
  • Perform line sizing calculations, pipe support load analysis, and nozzle load stress evaluations in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Lead piping layout development and review PFDs and P&IDs to ensure mechanical designs align with process and operational requirements.
  • Specify rotating and fixed equipment, including valves, pressure vessels, tanks, pumps, compressors, turbines, separators, and filtration systems.
  • Prepare specialty item specifications and review pipe specifications.
  • Coordinate mechanical deliverables with project team members across engineering disciplines.
  • Prepare hourly cost and resource estimates for project bids.
  • Interface with company engineering and project management, drafting, procurement, outside consultant engineering firms, inspection, and operations personnel as necessary.
  • Review and integrate company standards, regulatory requirements, and site-specific data, including geotechnical reports, into mechanical designs.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control reviews of mechanical drawings, calculations, and technical documents.
  • Travel occasionally to job sites to meet with clients and construction personnel as necessary to scope projects and collect information for design.
  • Handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.

Quanta Services acquires Davenport's Tri-City Group, adding 2,800 employees to 69,000-strong workforce

Quanta Services has acquired Davenport-based Tri-City Group, a family of contractors and engineering companies specialising in electrical construction, technology solutions and industrial services. The acquisition was completed in the fourth quarter of 2025. Tri-City Group will retain its name, brand and leadership team, including the Palmer Family. The company, which has operated since 1895, employs over 2,800 people and has completed projects in 46 states, two US territories and six countries. Houston-based Quanta Services, which employs approximately 69,000 people, is a specialised contracting company providing integrated engineering, procurement, construction and maintenance services for electric power, renewable energy and underground utility infrastructure. The acquisition strengthens Quanta's electrical infrastructure services capabilities across key US regions.
