Red Bull makes and markets energy drinks. It focuses on a signature global beverage and uses a distinct marketing strategy to build the brand. How it works: the drink combines ingredients such as caffeine and sugars (originally based on Krating Daeng) and is carbonated for Western palates, distributed worldwide through large-scale marketing, sponsorships, and events to boost sales. How it differs: it remains privately held by the founding families, avoiding public funding, and relies on a marketing-heavy approach—extreme-sports sponsorships, high-profile events, and a strong brand identity—rather than conventional product features alone. What it aims to do: maintain leadership in the energy-drink category, grow globally through branding and partnerships, and continue expanding its product line and presence without going public.

LATEST: Electric Picnic announce headliners for biggest ever Laois dance arena. By The Newsroom Published 21st Aug 2026, 12:30 BST The 8,000-capacity dance music cathedral has been transformed with the biggest indoor LED screen in Electric Picnic's history. Electric Picnic has announced its dance arena Terminus is set to triple in production size this year with headliners just announced a week ahead of the Laois Festival. Terminus is returning with Red Bull as its new presenting partner with festival organisers promising it will be "the biggest production upgrade in the arena's history and taking the festival's largest indoor dancefloor experience to a whole new level." Irish DJ duo Belters Only, who have sold out gigs around the world, will headline while dance fans can also expect MALUGI to get the party started, and there's some 90s inspired techno from X Club. CamrinWatsin, Clouds, DART, Effy, Faster Horses, Kayleigh Glynn and TWOFACED all bring their own brands of electronica and dance to the DJ booth. E.T.C and Derv will open proceedings on Saturday and Sunday night. Anchoring the Freetown Quarter beyond the Salty Dog woods, Terminus has become a festival favourite. The 8,000-capacity dance music cathedral has been transformed, with the biggest indoor LED screen in Electric Picnic's history and a kinetic system of automated LED pillars suspended above the crowd, creating an ever-changing ceiling of light that will bring Red Bull x Terminus to life. The first of their kind at the festival, the LED pillars will descend towards the dancefloor before soaring high above the audience again, continually reshaping the arena as the night unfolds. Together with the vast LED screen, lighting and sound, Red Bull x Terminus will blur the lines between stage, experience and architecture, transporting 8,000 Picnickers into an infinite realm of euphoria, energy and electronic music. Organisers said: Red Bull x Terminus is the final destination. Meet Leinster Express where the map ends and dance the night away!" Related topics: Laois More Stories

Max Verstappen extends contract with Red Bull to 2030 after he weighed up leaving F1.

Max Verstappen extends contract with Red Bull to 2030 after he weighed up leaving F1. By JAMES ELLINGWORTH AP Sports Writer ZANDVOORT, Netherlands (AP) - Max Verstappen says he seriously considered leaving Formula 1 before the four-time champion instead committed to four more years with Red Bull on Thursday. The announcement of his contract extension ahead of Verstappen's home Dutch Grand Prix this weekend ends speculation that he could seek a blockbuster move to another team or quit the sport. It comes despite Red Bull struggling to match the pace of leading team Mercedes this season, and Verstappen's own frustration with how much the 2026 cars rely on electrical power. "After the first few races (this year), I said to Laurent (Mekies, Red Bull team principal): 'Don't come to me with any kind of questions about the future because I don't even know if I want to stay.' Honestly, we always kept it very open," Verstappen said. He added that talks with F1 and governing body the FIA had persuaded him that "we are slowly working towards something that becomes better and better" with the current cars, while the new contract until 2030 could cover a planned return to simpler V8 engines. "Even if I'm not entirely happy with how the package is, I still love racing, this is still the pinnacle of motorsport, so I still want to be here," he added. Asked whether he'd spoken with other teams, he said: "I think I was closer to retiring than changing team." Seeing out the contract in full would take Verstappen to 15 seasons with Red Bull. It would be the longest-running driver-team pairing in F1 history. It comes with strong support for team principal Mekies after he replaced the team's founding boss Christian Horner last year. In return, Mekies laid out how the team is built around Verstappen. "He's a lot more than the fastest driver in the world for us," Mekies said. "He's the central point of the team. He's one we always refer to for all the strategic decisions we are making, and to know that he's going to be with us in order to build that next winning cycle is phenomenal." Verstappen, already considered one of F1's all-time greats at the age of 28, has yet to win a race this season. The 71-time race winner hasn't had a winless season since his rookie year in 2015. Verstappen's previous contract ran through 2028 but reportedly included performance-related clauses which could have potentially allowed him to leave earlier and which fueled speculation he might seek to move. Red Bull backed Verstappen's career from childhood and brought him into F1 at the age of 17 in 2015 at its second team, then called Toro Rosso. That made him the youngest driver in series history, a record he still holds. Still, there had been signs of tension in recent years amid the departures of a series of key staff including Horner last year and car design great Adrian Newey. Verstappen also raised safety concerns this season after two separate faults with the Red Bull car's rear wing hurled him into high-speed crashes. Verstappen had been linked with a move to McLaren after reports of a meeting in June between his representatives and McLaren management. McLaren chief executive Zak Brown said at the time the team didn't have an opening for him and would stick with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. One driver who had been considered a potential replacement for Verstappen at Red Bull, Carlos Sainz Jr., signed a new contract on Wednesday with Williams. ___ See AP's full auto racing coverage here

Dilip Shanghvi, recipient of the IAA Business Leader of the Year 2026, said: "I am deeply honoured to receive the IAA Business Leader of the Year award. As far as I am concerned, I take happiness from the successes of my team members, and I have a very long window of gratification. It doesn't discourage me, and I keep on trying. All businesses succeed because people work effectively as a team, so you need to adapt and create an environment to attract good people, retain them, and value what they contribute." Sidharth Malhotra said: "It means a lot to be recognised by a body that represents the people behind some of the country's most loved brands. As actors, we are lucky to be part of stories that people carry with them for years. Brand stories do that in a different way; they become part of people's everyday lives, and that trust is very special. Thank you to IAA, to all the brands that have trusted me, and most of all to my fans who have always supported my journey." The awards were held under the theme 'The Power of Balance'. The event was attended by more than 250 leaders from business, marketing, advertising, media and entertainment. Jishnu Dev Varma, Governor of Maharashtra and chief guest at the event, said: "It is a pleasure to be here this evening and to celebrate the achievements of so many accomplished leaders. The advertising, media, and marketing industry occupies a unique position. It does not merely promote products, it shapes aspirations, influences consumer behavior, drives innovation, and strengthens brands that contribute to the nation's economic growth. The emergence of artificial intelligence and data-driven marketing is transforming the way brands engage with consumers, making creativity and innovation more important than ever before. However, advertising must uphold truthfulness, transparency, and ethics. It should not be misleading. The most successful brands are those that build trust, respect consumer intelligence, and contribute positively to society. As India aspires to become a Viksit Bharat by 2047, the power of ideas, communication, and creativity will be as important as capital and technology" Nandini Dias, chairperson, IAA Leadership Awards, said: "The more the world changes, the harder leadership becomes to define. Leadership is the ability to be stretched, to respond to circumstances, make difficult choices and create momentum in an environment that is constantly shifting. The best leaders don't eliminate tension; they learn to lead through it. Balance is not compromise. Balance is not standing in the middle - it is having the wisdom to hold opposing truths at the same time and being very decisive about both. Performance tells Wypworldwide what has been achieved. Leadership tells Wypworldwide what has been built - and what could be achieved next. That is what the IAA Leadership Awards seek to recognise: leaders who can balance many things exceptionally well and build success that endures." Abhishek Karnani, president, IAA India Chapter, said: "For over eight decades globally, and through its India Chapter, the IAA has brought together leaders from marketing, media, advertising and business - not just to celebrate excellence, but to spark conversations, challenge convention and help shape the future of its industry. Because leadership isn't about standing above the industry. It's about moving the industry forward. Tonight, Wypworldwide celebrate those leaders who have built businesses, but also built trust, teams, cultures and optimism. Technology may change the way Wypworldwide work, but character will always define the way Wypworldwide lead. Its focus this year is equally clear. Three priorities: AI, Skilling & Conversation. Helping its industry understand and effectively use artificial intelligence - not fear it. Building new skills for the next generation of marketers and creative leaders. And creating spaces where the biggest conversations shaping its business can happen. Because industries don't evolve by accident." The awards were evaluated by a jury chaired by Prabha Narasimhan, managing director and CEO, Colgate-Palmolive (India). The jury included Jayant Acharya, Jt. managing director & CEO, JSW Steel; Kavita Chaturvedi, chief executive, Biscuits & Confections Business, ITC; Pradeep Dwivedi, Group CEO, Eros Media World; Gurmit Singh, Resident director, Quora India and Advisory Director, The Nimble Labs; Himanshu Chakrawarti, Stellaro Brand; Atul Shinghal, CEO, Scripbox Wealth Managers; and Sanjay Jain, Group chief executive officer, PDS. The jury members were felicitated during the event.

Red Bull AG v. PepsiCo India Holdings Pvt. Ltd. & anr.delhi High Court.

Red Bull AG v. PepsiCo India Holdings Pvt. Ltd. & anr.delhi High Court. A significant trademark case concerning descriptive and laudatory taglines and the limits of exclusive trademark rights. Short Description About the Case This case involved Red Bull AG and PepsiCo India Holdings Pvt. Ltd. in relation to competing taglines used for energy drinks. Red Bull relied upon its registered tagline "VITALIZES BODY AND MIND." and alleged that PepsiCo's "STIMULATES MIND. ENERGIZES BODY." was deceptively similar. The Delhi High Court examined whether the competing expression was being used as a trademark and whether common descriptive or laudatory expressions could be exclusively monopolised. Red Bull AG was the proprietor of the registered trademark/tagline "VITALIZES BODY AND MIND." PepsiCo India Holdings Pvt. Ltd. used the expression "STIMULATES MIND. ENERGIZES BODY." in connection with its STING energy drink. Red Bull alleged that PepsiCo's tagline was deceptively similar to its registered tagline and infringed its trademark rights. Red Bull therefore sought an injunction restraining PepsiCo from using the impugned tagline. The Court examined the manner in which PepsiCo used the expression on its product packaging. The Court noted that the STING brand was prominently displayed, whereas the impugned tagline appeared in a relatively smaller manner. The Court considered the expression to be essentially descriptive and laudatory, conveying the qualities or effects associated with an energy drink rather than functioning primarily as a badge of origin. The Court therefore declined to grant an interim injunction against PepsiCo on the basis of trademark infringement. Suggestion This case is highly useful in matters involving trademark infringement, descriptive marks, laudatory marks, slogans, taglines, distinctiveness, and interim injunctions. It can be cited where a trademark proprietor claims exclusive rights over a phrase consisting of ordinary descriptive or promotional words. For practical legal use, this case supports the principle that registration of a descriptive or laudatory expression does not automatically give the proprietor an unrestricted monopoly over ordinary words used by competitors in a descriptive manner. The Delhi High Court dismissed Red Bull's application for an interim injunction against PepsiCo's use of "STIMULATES MIND. ENERGIZES BODY." The Court held that, at the interim stage, the expression was essentially descriptive/laudatory and did not justify restraining PepsiCo on the basis of trademark infringement.
