Requirements
  • A post-secondary degree, preferably in a financial field.
  • One to two years of mortgage experience, preferably in the alternative mortgage market.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French is required.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Understanding of anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing practices and Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada requirements.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to make complex decisions under pressure and work effectively in a high-volume, constantly changing environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of mortgage funding and quality-assurance processes.
  • Ability to assess documentation related to mortgage down payments and borrower-income confirmation.
  • Awareness of mortgage-industry fraud risks and ability to address suspected misrepresentation concerns.

Responsibilities
  • Obtain, collect, review, and update required mortgage-file documentation from commitment approval through funding.
  • Validate borrower income, down-payment information, and borrower identity, and conduct client interviews when necessary.
  • Ensure mortgage documentation and files comply with lending policies, legal requirements, anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing requirements, Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada guidelines, and internal procedures.
  • Detect, manage, and mitigate suspected fraud, misrepresentation, and other file-risk concerns.
  • Ensure all conditions required for funding are satisfied before closing.
  • Collaborate with underwriting, funding, compliance, quality-assurance, fraud-prevention, mortgage-sales, broker, client, and other internal teams to resolve anomalies and complete transactions efficiently.
  • Manage the assigned deal pipeline, prioritize files, use tracking reports, and meet processing and scheduled funding deadlines.
  • Communicate with mortgage brokers, clients, and internal contacts, respond to inquiries, and provide customer service.
  • Monitor deal changes, update files, notify relevant parties, and resolve quality-assurance and compliance-review queries accurately and promptly.
  • Work independently under management supervision and make decisions concerning file compliance, anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing requirements, fraud indicators, and funding-pipeline management.
  • Identify opportunities to improve mortgage-funding workflows and customer experience.
  • Manage complex mortgage files and maintain compliance with bank policies, procedures, and risk-management requirements.

EQB appoints Daniel Rethazy as EVP to lead Personal Banking expansion and PC Financial integration

EQB Inc. has appointed Daniel Rethazy as Executive Vice President, Personal Banking, effective 6 April 2026. Rethazy will oversee a unified Personal Banking business integrating residential lending, deposits and the EQ Bank digital platform. Subject to regulatory approval, he will also manage products and channels from EQB's announced acquisition of PC Financial, including the long-term strategic relationship with Loblaw Companies for EQ Bank to become the exclusive banking partner for the PC Optimum programme. CEO Chadwick Westlake described Rethazy as "a generational talent in Canadian banking", noting his experience will accelerate growth for EQB's Personal Banking franchise. The appointment reflects EQB's strategy to compete as a digital-first challenger in Canadian banking whilst scaling operations and strengthening its market position.

EQB posts Q1 adjusted diluted EPS of $2.26, up 48% q/q as efficiency ratio improves to 49.1%

EQB Inc reported first quarter 2026 results with adjusted diluted earnings per share of $2.26, up 48% quarter-over-quarter but down 24% year-over-year. Adjusted net income reached $85.2 million, whilst adjusted return on equity improved to 11.1%. The Canadian digital bank's efficiency ratio improved to 49.1% from 53.6% in the previous quarter, reflecting cost benefits from a strategic restructuring programme. Commercial lending loans under management grew 3% quarter-over-quarter and 19% year-over-year. EQ Bank added 26,000 new customers in the quarter, bringing total customers to 633,000. The company declared a dividend of $0.59 per share, up 16% year-over-year. EQB is progressing with its planned acquisition of PC Financial, having filed regulatory applications in January 2026. The company maintained a CET1 capital ratio of 13.6%.
