GM secures $4.5B parts financing to strengthen supply chain

General Motors has secured a $4.5 billion financing arrangement to strengthen its supply chain and ensure critical component availability. The deal involves Procura Auto Parts, JPMorgan Chase, and Banco Santander, which will prepay selected suppliers on GM's behalf. GM will reimburse Procura using formal payment promises after parts are used in production, with repayment required no later than 31 July 2029. The automaker will pay interest, an agreed premium, and an annual fee on unused funds. The arrangement addresses supply vulnerabilities following years of industry-wide disruptions involving semiconductors, rare earths, and wire harnesses. It reflects GM's broader effort to diversify sourcing amid US tariffs and reduced reliance on Chinese suppliers. GM established the arrangement on Friday.

Jim Cramer backs Banco Santander as European bank posts $10.2B H1 profit, up 31%

Jim Cramer has repeatedly endorsed Banco Santander (NYSE:SAN) as a top European banking stock in 2025. In February, he said the bank was "on track to become one of the most profitable banks in the world", targeting 20% return on tangible equity by 2028. Santander's shares have gained 67% over the past year and 19.7% year-to-date. The bank reported €8.97 billion in net income for H1 2026, up 31% annually, driven by a 2.71% net interest margin and 12 million new customers. However, bears question whether the current valuation can sustain high expectations. Santander's forward P/E ratio of 12.18 has risen from 8.64 a year ago. Regional weakness in Brazil, where second-quarter profit fell 17.6%, has also raised concerns about maintaining strong performance across all markets.

Molins secures $768M syndicated financing and $565M bond for Secil acquisition

Molins has completed a syndicated financing and bond issuance to partially fund its acquisition of Portuguese company Secil. Through subsidiary Molins Finance, the company secured €680 million in sustainability-linked syndicated financing in March, led by BBVA and CaixaBank with other international institutions. The transaction included a €500 million bridge-to-bond facility led by Banco Santander and J.P. Morgan, expected to be repaid with bond proceeds. Cuatrecasas advised the syndicate of financial institutions and initial purchasers on the deal. The two-phase transaction represents a significant financing milestone for Molins as it expands through the Secil acquisition.
