Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the entire store.
  • Develop personal skills and assist with training and development of subordinate staff.
  • Estimate personnel needs, assign work, meet completion dates, and interpret and consistently apply organizational policies.
  • Receive training and perform duties in all store departments to become familiar with staff functions, operations, management viewpoints, and company policies and practices affecting each phase of the business.
  • Observe experienced workers to acquire knowledge of methods, procedures, and performance standards for departmental duties.
  • Assist in developing an annual store operating budget and operate the store within budgetary guidelines.
  • Assist with hiring, development, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions for store personnel.
  • Assist in ensuring all employees are adequately trained to perform their duties.
  • Assist with assigning duties and scheduling staff to ensure payroll and productivity budget guidelines are met.
  • Assist store personnel in meeting or exceeding budgetary sales guidelines.
  • Assist in managing and balancing store inventory to maximize turns while maintaining stock for customer needs.
  • Assist in ensuring in-store technology is used to its fullest potential for maximum return on investment and lifespan.
  • Assist with communicating corporate goals to store personnel through weekly store meetings.
  • Assist in ensuring outstanding customer service is exhibited by all employees.
  • Assist in ensuring all Loss Prevention policies are followed and report deviations to Loss Prevention.
  • Assist in ensuring all corporate marketing, advertising, and promotional programs are fully executed and implemented.
  • Assist in collecting and managing all accounts receivable, including third-party, compensation, and Kinney house charge accounts.
  • Assist in ensuring receiving and handling requirements for Kinney-warehoused merchandise and Direct Store Delivery merchandise are followed.
  • Assist in ensuring Standards of Presentations and merchandise presentation guidelines are implemented and maintained in a timely manner.
  • Assist with interfacing with auditors, inspectors, vendors, and outside agencies as needed.
  • Assist in ensuring the physical plant is maintained to protect customer and employee safety.
  • Assist with submitting required reports, cashups, timesheets, and other requested data to corporate on time.
  • Attend and actively participate in required training and management programs.
  • Perform all store clerk duties as needed.
  • Ensure the store complies with all state and federal regulations and requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • An Associate degree or higher in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Four or more years of previous experience in merchandising, store management, or a related field is preferred.
