Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years technical training at an accredited university or technical institute and a minimum of 6 years experience in area(s) of specialization or High School diploma and 8 years experience in a power plant focused on operations, maintenance, or technical field
  • Must have knowledge of Power Plant systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in in-plant environments and field site locations

Responsibilities
  • Performs analysis in area(s) of responsibility
  • Perform field inspections, field measurements and equipment walk downs.
  • Ensures company resources are used in a cost-effective manner
  • Oversees, supports, monitors, and emphasizes the importance of safety and environmental programs and ensures regulatory compliance
  • Participates and/or leads teams that focus on specific problem areas or needs for generating units (i.e. Root Cause Analysis)
  • Initiates/participates in continuous improvement planning and implementation in assigned area(s) of responsibility
  • Prepares written reports in assigned area(s) of responsibility
  • Performs technical duties in area(s) of specialization
  • Coordinates activities with Vendors/Contractors, outside support groups, and other plant employees
  • Provide technical support to plant operations and maintenance activities.
  • Provide training to plant operations and maintenance employees (Safety, Environmental, Conduct of Operations, etc.). Provides training to help develop employees at the site in both Operations and Maintenance.
  • Be proactive with problem recognition, using independent judgment to provide input on ways to solve them.
  • Perform testing and analysis using various predictive maintenance technologies, including, but not limited to, vibration monitoring, oil analysis, infrared thermography, motor current analysis, ultrasonic monitoring, and equipment balancing and laser alignment
  • Maintains accurate, up-to-date predictive maintenance databases
  • Perform maintenance analysis studies, develop and analyze databases, and prepare reports with recommendations using Work Management System as well as other available tools
  • Evaluate preventative and predictive maintenance activities to identify and implement improved processes
  • Provides technical input on due diligence efforts and new projects they arise
  • Monitor and report project progress and health on regularly established intervals to NRG management.
  • Fulfill all internal and external project and program tracking and reporting requirements. This includes Safety, Environmental, and NRG Programs (OPO-026: Natural Gas Inspection, OPO-217: Structural Inspections…, etc.) Reporting
  • Put form to and managing implementation of Special Projects including but not limited to developing scope, cost and schedule.
  • Participates in the applicable internal and external user groups and implement industry best practices to the fleet as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Co-generation plant experience preferred
  • Combined Cycle GE 7EA operation and maintenance experience preferred
  • Experience with breakers, exciters, generators, transformers, pumps, fans, motors, switchgear, and miscellaneous electrical equipment
  • Ability to provide technical support for electrical testing, inspection, repair and development / implementation of technical solutions of in-service power generation components
  • Basic knowledge of power plant systems and operation consistent with level of responsibility
  • Comprehensive knowledge of power plant systems and equipment in area(s) of specialization
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply applicable industry standards and codes
  • Ability to use PC and associated software applications to collect and analyze data and produce spreadsheets, databases, and reports
  • Knowledge of and ability to preform functions in SAP that support job duties and the plant
  • Ability to use basic math and algebra to perform calculations
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts (verbal and written)
  • Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with all individuals
  • Ability to perform as a team member or leader in a cross-functional team environment and achieve consensus decisions
  • Ability to support and maintain schedule on several concurrent assignments
  • Ability to perform standard calculations in area(s) of specialization

NRG Energy prices $2.6B debt offering with secured and unsecured notes

NRG Energy has priced concurrent offerings totalling $2.6 billion in senior notes. The offering comprises $500 million in 4.955% senior secured first lien notes due 2031, $1.05 billion in 5.875% senior unsecured notes due 2034, and $1.05 billion in 6.125% senior unsecured notes due 2036. The notes will be guaranteed by NRG's wholly-owned US subsidiaries. The secured notes will be backed by a first priority security interest in property and assets owned by NRG and guarantors. NRG intends to use proceeds from the offerings, alongside a proposed $900 million term loan, to repay revolving credit facility borrowings and fund a tender offer for subsidiary Lightning Power's 7.25% senior secured notes due 2032, plus transaction fees and general corporate purposes.

NRG doubles generation fleet with LS Power deal, expands data center power agreements

NRG Energy has appointed Caroline Golin as chief growth and policy officer in a newly created role. Dr Golin will oversee strategic execution of business initiatives addressing rising energy demand, focusing on data centre opportunities and residential virtual power plant programmes, whilst leading government and regulatory affairs functions.
