Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Recruit and train community volunteer activists through calls, texts, door knocking, petition gathering, flyering, campus recruitment, and grassroots skills trainings.
  • Maintain a detailed volunteer list so that potential volunteers are tracked and followed up with.
  • Represent the campaign in community spaces and events while engaging coalition and partner organizations.
  • Gather more than one thousand community petitions supporting key campaign issues.
  • Generate additional actions targeting Members of Congress, including social media posts, phone calls, postcards, and photo petitions.
  • Recruit and train volunteers to generate petitions and volunteer engagement at events.
  • Recruit and engage community leaders, organizational partners, and VIPs to build relationships and generate supporters, volunteers, and event attendees.
  • Generate voter registrations in key Iowa counties.
  • Maintain quality-control systems to ensure compliance with voter-registration laws and rules.
  • Organize and execute high-visibility in-person events supporting climate, jobs, and justice.
  • Educate community members about historical climate investments and the urgency of continued action.
  • Ensure compliance with campaign messaging and legal requirements and ensure that volunteers follow them.
  • Recruit volunteers to post campaign support on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
  • Use peer-to-peer texting services and relational-organizing tools to communicate with community members.
  • Send email campaigns to recruit activists to campaign activities.
  • Track every interaction with detailed notes, report numbers daily, and write weekly campaign-results reports.
  • Recruit, train, and develop activist leaders to collect petitions, educate others on campaign issues, and recruit constituents to district events and actions.
  • Plan and execute door knocking, phone banking, petitioning, visibility events, and educational events.
  • Develop relationships with community and campus leaders around corporate accountability, health care, and justice for recruitment, event planning, and power building.
  • Expand the support network through public-visibility actions, voter outreach, and relationship building.
Desired Qualifications
  • Organizing experience within or around Iowa.
  • Experience working for nonprofits and issue campaigns.
  • Experience working with data management systems and tools, mainly Google Suite.
  • Experience with VAN, Action Network, ThruText, MailChimp, EveryAction, or social media tools such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
  • Event or project planning, management, implementation, or evaluation experience.
  • Knowledge or previous experience working on corporate accountability, climate action, or health care issues.
