Requirements
  • Three to five or more years of logistics, transportation, or inventory management experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience is required.
  • Knowledge of inventory systems and logistics software.
  • Understanding of laboratory handling procedures and compliance standards.
  • Ability to solve problems and make decisions under pressure.
  • Willingness to work off-hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, or on-call support as needed.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of courier staff, including scheduling, routing, and performance monitoring.
  • Ensure timely pickup and delivery of laboratory specimens, supplies, and documents.
  • Monitor fleet usage, maintenance schedules, and vehicle compliance, including licenses and inspections.
  • Optimize delivery routes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Oversee inventory of laboratory supplies, reagents, and consumables.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using tracking systems.
  • Conduct regular audits and cycle counts.
  • Coordinate ordering and replenishment to prevent shortages or overstock.
  • Ensure proper handling, packaging, and transport of laboratory materials in compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff to prioritize urgent or time-sensitive deliveries.
  • Troubleshoot delays, delivery issues, or operational disruptions.
  • Enforce adherence to Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Department of Transportation, and laboratory safety regulations.
  • Train staff on proper handling of biological or hazardous materials.
  • Maintain documentation for audits and inspections.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate courier and logistics personnel.
  • Develop schedules and manage staffing levels.
  • Promote accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Track and report key performance metrics, including delivery times, error rates, and inventory accuracy.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and implement improvements.
  • Support implementation of logistics or inventory management systems.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience in a laboratory, healthcare, or regulated environment is strongly preferred.
