Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in a biological, laboratory, or health science field with at least two years of leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and knowledge in anatomic pathology techniques and instrumentation.
  • Demonstrated experience leading laboratory operations, including coordinating workflows, managing priorities, and supporting high-quality scientific or diagnostic services.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop technical staff while fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven setting.
  • Experience supporting quality assurance systems and ensuring compliance with laboratory policies and other requirements.
  • Ability to understand and apply scientific laboratory principles and procedures while partnering with technical experts to support operations.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including sitting or standing for extended periods and occasionally lifting or moving laboratory materials and equipment.
  • Employees working in the laboratory must receive the pre-exposure rabies prophylaxis vaccination series prior to or immediately after hire.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily Anatomic Pathology laboratory operations, workflows, staffing, equipment, and troubleshooting to ensure efficient diagnostic services.
  • Lead, train, and support technical staff while fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Perform and supervise specialized anatomic pathology diagnostic procedures and maintain technical expertise across all laboratory functions.
  • Manage quality assurance, regulatory compliance, audits, and continuous improvement activities to maintain laboratory standards.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience managing operations within a diagnostic, research, clinical, or veterinary laboratory.
  • Experience with forensic case processing, including chain of custody and documentation.
  • Professional certification in a laboratory or scientific discipline, such as ASCP or similar.
