Requirements

  • Ability to secure cross-collaborative large-scale proposals across colleges, schools, and units at a large university.
  • Ability to work with internal partners, including other gift officers and teams within Texas Development, to develop proposals and reports on interdisciplinary funding initiatives.
Responsibilities
  • Build and carry an active, high-performing portfolio of 70–80 prospective donors for the College of Pharmacy.
  • Execute qualification, strategy development, relationship building, and closing of principal gifts.
  • Partner with the Chief Development Officer and leverage University Corporate Relations and Foundation Relations teams to conceptualize strategies for engaging corporations and foundations and securing philanthropic support.
  • Develop and submit proposals to corporations and foundations to fund existing and new programs.
  • Work with faculty, university leaders, and corporate and foundation representatives to coordinate all grant activities.
  • Participate in goal setting, proposal preparation, strategy development, and stewardship for portfolio donors.
  • Deliver funding proposals to prospective and current donors.
  • Manage and cultivate the Industry Advisory Board with faculty and academic leaders.
  • Work with faculty, academic leaders, and other development staff to develop campus-wide funding opportunities and reach campaign goals.
  • Use a fundraising database and prospecting tools.
  • Maintain timely electronic documentation, including engagement activities, proposal tracking, contact reports, donor strategies, and forecasting.
  • Record timely reports, letters, proposals, and gift agreements following donor contact.
  • Work collaboratively with University development officers to further University development goals.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Five years of directly related experience.
  • Experience building partnerships in pharmaceutical and/or health sciences.
  • Successfully closed several gifts of $1,000,000 or more in health or higher education.
  • Experience with fundraising databases and knowledge of prospecting tools and reports within fundraising systems or other prospective donor relations systems.
  • Ability to make sound, ethical, and independent judgments.
  • Success working on teams to develop high-level proposals with funding opportunities across disciplines.
  • Personal and professional confidence with empathy toward others.
