Canon ENERGY STAR Award: 5 smart reasons to choose eco-friendly copiers.

Canon ENERGY STAR Award: 5 smart reasons to choose eco-friendly copiers. By Brian / July 20, 2026 Canon ENERGY STAR recognition isn't a one-time achievement - Canon has earned the U.S. EPA ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Sustained Excellence Award for nine consecutive years. That means Canon ENERGY STAR certified products have been independently verified, year after year, as among the most energy-efficient imaging equipment available. Here's what that track record means for Tallahassee businesses. Table of Contents What the Canon ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence Award actually means. The EPA's ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year - Sustained Excellence designation is the highest recognition the program offers. It goes to companies that demonstrate continued leadership in energy efficiency - not just companies that make one efficient product. Canon ENERGY STAR recognition has been awarded for manufacturing efficient imaging equipment AND for educating customers about energy efficiency, two separate criteria that must both be met every year. In practical terms, Canon ENERGY STAR certified copiers consume significantly less power - during operation and in standby mode - compared to non-certified equipment. For a business running copiers all day, that adds up on the electric bill over a 5-year lease term. 5 smart reasons to choose Canon ENERGY STAR certified copiers. 1. Nine consecutive years - not just one good year. The Sustained Excellence designation means Canon hasn't just participated in ENERGY STAR - they've led it consistently since 2016. That level of Canon ENERGY STAR commitment reflects a company-wide approach that shows up in every product line they design, from desktop A4 printers to enterprise A3 MFPs. 2. 252 epeat-registered products as of 2025. Canon has 252 products listed on the EPEAT (Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool) registry as of December 2025. EPEAT certification covers office MFDs, inkjet printers, large-format printers, scanners, and production printers. That's more registered Canon ENERGY STAR and eco-certified products than most competitors offer in their entire lineup. 3. Lower operating costs for Tallahassee offices. Canon ENERGY STAR certified MFPs are engineered to draw less power during print jobs and drop into low-power standby faster between jobs. For a law firm or CPA office running a high-volume copier 40-plus hours a week, the energy savings over a multi-year lease can be significant - often enough to factor into your total cost of ownership calculation. 4. State agency procurement compliance. Many Florida state agency procurement requirements favor or require ENERGY STAR certified equipment. Canon's consistent recognition by the U.S. EPA makes it straightforward to satisfy those requirements without compromising on features or performance. Advanced Business Systems serves state agencies in Tallahassee under NASPO-Florida agreements and can help match the right Canon ENERGY STAR certified model to your procurement specs. 5. Wide format sustainability innovation. Canon ENERGY STAR recognition extends to the wide format lineup too. The Colorado series uses UVgel ink technology that produces odorless, HAPs-free emissions and reduces ink consumption by up to 40 percent. The PlotWave series uses Radiant Fusing technology with an ENERGY STAR designation. Architects and engineers in Tallahassee don't have to choose between performance and sustainability.
