Requirements
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Two or more years of supervisory experience are required.
  • Guest service experience is required.
  • Must be able to interact with guests, staff, and colleagues and resolve problems and conflicts diplomatically and tactfully.
  • Must be able to maintain a calm, professional, and friendly demeanor in all situations.
  • Must be able to handle and defuse hostile, intoxicated, or upset individuals professionally and calmly.
  • Must be able to use a hand-held radio for communications.
  • Must be flexible to work all shifts, including holidays, nights, weekends, and overtime, as business needs dictate.
  • Must qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving history as determined by the employer's auto insurance carrier.
  • All applicants must complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safety and security of guests, team members, and company assets.
  • Oversee, direct, train, and manage the performance of security team members.
  • Ensure compliance with guest service, fire prevention, emergency response, guarding, patrolling, personnel monitoring, accident response, and criminal-act response procedures.
  • Supervise security officers assisting with guest interactions and transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory controls and enforce state casino laws, including identifying and removing underage persons from the casino floor.
  • Respond to verbal and physical altercations and apply or direct appropriate measures to resolve situations.
  • Adhere to scheduling and coordinate scheduling concerns with the manager.
  • Enforce internal control policies and procedures, including underage gambling and drinking laws.
  • Conduct regular security post inspections.
  • Prepare security incident reports and maintain security logs.
  • Ensure security team members comply with uniform, dress, and grooming standards.
  • Report potential regulatory compliance issues to management.
  • Patrol designated areas on foot to prevent theft, violence, safety issues, and hazards.
  • Perform door checks to ensure locked areas remain secure.
  • Respond to security calls and alarms in a timely manner and operate communication equipment safely and properly.
  • Escort company funds safely, securely, and properly.
  • Provide assistance, directions, and answers to questions in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Follow safety and emergency action protocols.
  • Complete Security department paperwork in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Follow Oaklawn policies and procedures and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Communicate with Oaklawn team members and guests.
  • Maintain a safe environment for team members and guests.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Manage work procedures and expedite workflow.
  • Provide coaching and counseling to team members.
