Requirements
  • This position has a minimum billable hour requirement of 1,600 hours per year.
  • Education: Certificate of completion from a Paralegal program approved by the American Bar Association; B.A. degree a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 to 7 years current experience as a complex litigation paralegal.
  • Skills: Advanced skills using Adobe Pro or other PDF software.

  • Skills: Relativity (Advanced Analytics, Clustering, Document Review, Productions, Searches).
Responsibilities
  • Performs a broad range of case related duties under the supervision of an attorney, including assisting with case planning, development and managing case deadlines to ensure research, discovery, and other projects are completed in a timely manner.
  • Conducts legal research from library sources and/or using LexisNexis or other computer assisted research program selected by the Firm.
  • Performs fact gathering and retrieves information, drafting and analyzing legal documents, and collecting, compiling and utilizing technical information to make independent decisions and recommendations to supervising attorney.
  • Works with attorneys on preparing and filing court documents, organizing exhibits and pleadings, and creating indices and chronologies.
  • Conducts background research on companies, individuals, and parties including filings with the government, social media, and the Internet.
  • May provide computer assisted litigation, e-discovery, e-document management, and trial support including preparing exhibits, coordinating trial setup and logistics, assisting attorneys in the courtroom, and preparing witnesses.
  • Assist with managing relationships with vendors and experts, including ensuring all invoices are processed and paid in accordance with client guidelines.
  • Promote positive work habits, including effective and timely communication, teamwork, and respect for co-workers.
  • Provide constructive guidelines to other employees and representatives of third parties who do business with the firm.
  • Comply with safe work practices, including the use of safe work procedures, maintenance of a safe working area and the use of safety equipment.
  • Contribute to provide the highest quality products and services to clients.
  • Understand and appropriately apply the firm’s practices and procedures.

  • Experience in other states, appellate court, and arbitration a plus.

April 19 (Reuters) - U.S. law firm Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith has been hit with its second employment lawsuit by a former partner in as many months, this time for alleged gender discrimination and retaliation.
