Requirements
  • Ability to complete TIA tire training.
  • Air Brake Certification is required.
  • A DOT Medical Card is required.
  • Shop Technician IV must obtain or maintain T2 Diesel Engines, T4 Brakes, T5 Suspension & Steering, T6 Electrical/Electronic Systems, and T7 Heating, Ventilation & A/C certifications, or equivalents, within one year of promotion.
  • Section 609 HVAC certification is required for HVAC service.
  • A valid driver’s license and insurable driving record are required.
  • Ability to attend and successfully complete HVAC, Electrical, and DOT training.
  • Ability to obtain required ASE, DOT, and other certifications.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, nights, and on-call schedules as needed.
  • Reliable transportation and a phone are required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, as applicable.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with team members and deliver customer service.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and perform the stated physical movements throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work in shop and roadside environments under varying conditions.
  • Physical attendance at the primary work location is required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform mechanical repairs in a timely and professional manner.
  • Perform all preventive maintenance services, tire services, and emergency road service calls.
  • Conduct DOT inspections and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Perform service calls, including night and on-call assignments as required.
  • Use diagnostic platforms including J-Pro, FleetCross, and original-equipment software to diagnose and repair vehicle systems.
  • Complete work orders accurately, documenting labor performed, parts used, and required warranty information.
  • Perform intermediate to advanced engine repairs, including diagnostics, cooling system components, fuel system components, turbos, oil systems, and related accessories.
  • Perform emissions system diagnostics and repairs, including DPF, EGR, sensors, and regeneration procedures.
  • Perform intermediate to advanced drivetrain repairs, including clutches, differentials, PTOs, axle assemblies, transmissions, and driveline components.
  • Perform wheel-end repairs, including bearings, seals, hubs, and spindle evaluation.
  • Conduct air system and air brake diagnostics and repairs, including ABS systems, compressors, valves, and sensors.
  • Perform advanced steering and suspension repairs, including gear boxes, kingpins, springs, shackles, hangers, tie rods, torsion arms, and fifth wheels.
  • Perform electrical system diagnostics and repairs, including voltage drop testing, parasitic draw testing, starters, alternators, and engine-related sensors.
  • Perform HVAC diagnostics and repairs, including recovery, evacuation, recharge, compressors, driers, expansion devices, evaporators, condensers, and HVAC controls.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop, tools, and equipment.
  • Ensure all tools, jacks, and service vehicles are maintained in safe working condition.
  • Stay current with LMS training requirements and complete OSHA Skills Demonstrations as required.
  • Provide friendly, professional, and competent customer service.
  • Adhere to company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.
