Overview

The Senior Financial Analyst plays a key role in driving strategic financial planning, analysis, and decision-making across the organization. This position is responsible for preparing detailed financial reports, forecasts, and models to support budgeting, expense management, and performance evaluation. The analyst collaborates with cross-functional teams to provide insights that enhance operational efficiency and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain financial models to support forecast, budgeting, and strategic planning

• Develop, implement, and maintain business intelligence reports and dashboards tailored to financial metrics and KPIs

• Collaborate across departments and functions to deliver insightful analysis and commentary comparing actual performance against plan and forecast, focusing on key business drivers

• Prepare quarterly and annual financial reports

• Conduct data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for finance process improvement

• Understand key systems, how they are used, and attributes to ensure data integrity and accuracy

Candidate Requisites

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent related work experience (Masters degree, CPA would be ideal assets)

• Minimum 5 years  experience with finance and/or accounting

• Advanced proficiency in excel and other systems that support financial modeling (i.e. PowerBI, Sigma, Oracle, Onestream)

• Strong understanding of financial principles, accounting practices, and financial statement analysis

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills

• Insurance/reinsurance industry experience is an asset

• Investment accounting experience is an asset

Skills & Abilities

• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to solve complex financial challenges

• Advanced technical skills in handling large datasets, with expertise in Excel, DAX, Power Query, and data visualization

• Advanced skills in managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, including the ability to delegate key areas of responsibility.

• Advanced persuasion skills when working with internal and external partners to resolve issues/problems.

• Advanced oral and written communication and facilitation skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received by internal and external contacts.

• Advanced ability to analyze and improve business processes

• Advanced ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines.

• Advanced ability to work well within a team and foster teamwork environment.

Compensation Range:

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan.
