Requirements
  • Associate Degree graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology required
  • 2-4 years experience as an X-Ray technologist required
  • Demonstrates knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures of CT.
  • Practices radiation safety techniques for the patient, self and others.
  • Demonstrated competence of the Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archiving Systems (PACS).
  • Ability to ensure patient safety and comfort while adhering to established protocols.
  • Skills in preparing and positioning patients accurately for CT scans, including using safety lifts and/or additional personnel for patient transfers.
  • Competence in maintaining CT equipment and ensuring its proper functioning.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with radiologists and healthcare team members.
  • Skills in administering contrast media and monitoring patients for adverse reactions.
Responsibilities
  • Performs CT techniques and examinations by established protocols with accuracy, quality, and efficiency.
  • Ensures that the patient is properly prepared for the diagnostic procedure by verifying that an informed patient consent has been properly executed and if necessary, arranges for one to be provided.
  • Prepares patient and adjusts CT equipment to obtain the highest quality CT study.
  • Presents proposals to department head on all department issues, such as new devices, protocols, or designs of equipment, changes in treatment, planning, research, etc.
  • Assists with inventory and purchasing of supplies and equipment.
  • Reviews and evaluates completed tests for quality, completeness and type of test ordered to ensure quality images and documents ongoing quality assurance activities.
  • Performs CT examinations and effectively identifies predictable problems and plans or provides patient care based on the age of the patient served.
  • Instructs or supervises students as appropriate.
  • Performs procedures in one or more modalities/specialties for the department.
  • Demonstrates proficiency at hospital-wide and/or department specific computer software and technology.
  • Uses consistent and appropriate techniques to gather relevant information from the medical record.
  • Receives, relays and documents verbal, written and electronic orders in the patient’s medical records.
  • Evaluates patients to identify specific complaints in order to coordinate with radiologist the optimum protocol to demonstrate the area of interest.
  • Uses the I-stat to perform creatinine levels, this creatinine level is then utilized to compute the GFR.
  • Assists licensed independent practitioners with interventional computed tomography procedures.
  • Identifies and manages emergency situations and assist to provide emergency life support if needed.
  • Reviews and evaluates the outcomes of the procedure and ensures to document all information related to the patient’s care, procedure and final outcome.
  • Applies principles of ALARA to minimize exposure to patient, self and others and assures for provision of safe and effective services while providing optimal care to all patients.
  • Manipulates and reconstructs data for display or hardcopy records, ensuring proper identification is evident.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology with CT registry preferred
  • 1-2 years CT experience preferred
  • ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists with an advanced level registry in CT preferred
