Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development certificate is required.
  • At least two years of experience through on-the-job training and two years of experience are required.
  • Ability to stand for up to eight hours per day, walk for up to four hours per day, sit for extended periods of up to two hours, lift up to 60 pounds, push up to 300 pounds, bend, crouch, reach, twist, climb stairs and ladders, and perform manual dexterity tasks is required.
  • Normal vision and hearing are required.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare walls and all types of surfaces, spackle and patch plaster where needed, and paint as directed by the Zone Mechanic supervisor.
  • Paint, spackle, and finish all types of surfaces to departmental standards, including patching plaster as needed.
  • Repair and hang various types of wall coverings while achieving quality results.
  • Communicate and cooperate with other departments to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Spray-paint shelving, furniture, and other items using various spray applications and paint products.
  • Mix paints and colors using formula books, color charts, or other methods to achieve desired colors or textures.
