The Simons Foundation advances research in basic science and mathematics through philanthropy. It provides funding for innovative research projects in areas such as mathematics, physical sciences, life sciences, and autism research. The foundation supports universities, research institutions, and individual scientists by offering grants and programs that encourage groundbreaking studies. One notable area of focus is nanofluidics, which examines fluid behavior at the nanoscale, with potential applications in water purification and energy generation. Unlike many organizations, the Simons Foundation operates solely on philanthropic funding, using endowments and donations to support its initiatives. Its goal is to push the boundaries of knowledge in science and mathematics, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing among researchers.
