Requirements
  • A four-year degree from an accredited college in an engineering field or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities
  • Follow all safety standards and policies, use appropriate protective equipment, and identify potential safety concerns.
  • Develop capable and efficient manufacturing processes by studying product requirements and researching, designing, modifying, and validating manufacturing, assembly, and inspection methods.
  • Specify, cost-justify, design, develop, and test tools, machinery, and equipment, or oversee their sourcing.
  • Coordinate manufacturing launches for new or revised products, including establishing processes, implementing tooling, providing written procedures, supporting manufacturing issues, and evaluating results.
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes and identify continuous improvement opportunities for safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Apply knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials, and confer with equipment vendors and operators to collect and analyze manufacturing information and trends.
  • Coordinate and implement quality-control objectives, activities, and procedures to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, and minimize costs.
  • Keep equipment operational by specifying and coordinating maintenance and repair.
  • Develop design-for-manufacturing criteria and process-capability expertise to inform future product and process design activities.
  • Confer with clients, suppliers, staff, and management regarding purchases, product and production specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and project status.
  • Provide manufacturing engineering support on the production floor across all shifts.
  • Provide technical resources for incident investigation, root-cause analysis, and corrective action, and participate in finished-product and raw-material material review board processes when requested.
  • Provide training to production and support personnel.

New high-tech composite center for 300 employees in central Switzerland begins operations. Publisher: Dana Ermolenko With its striking new "Schwarzhorn" building, Pilatus has officially opened an ultra-modern center of advanced composite competence in canton Nidwalden: effective immediately, the development and production of composite components will be united under one roof for the first time. The new building provides state-of-the-art workplaces for around 300 employees and has been designed to meet the highest standards of sustainability. Pilatus CEO Markus Bucher commented: "With this building, Pilatus is once again reaffirming its commitment to Switzerland as a place of innovation, manufacturing, and training - and to our sustainable development here at our home base, where our roots lie. Costing 100 million Swiss francs, this building is the most expensive facility we have invested in to date." Composites - also known as fiber-reinforced materials - have been used since over 40 years at Pilatus, but only for non-load-bearing secondary structures such as covers and cowlings. The PC-24 Super Versatile Jet marks a departure from this in that composite materials are now used for primary structural components as well: composite load-bearing control surfaces represent an important technological development in aircraft construction because they are lighter, and therefore contribute to fuel savings. Pilatus plans to expand the use of composites in the future. Named after a Swiss mountain and the color of the composite components, the "Schwarzhorn" building brings all the process steps together under one roof - from delivery and storage of raw materials through to component production, subassembly, and surface treatment, to storage and order picking. The components are delivered directly to the final assembly as finished kits. The largely self-sufficient composite production process allows all the disciplines involved to concentrate fully on value-adding activities. The manufacturing areas also provide the opportunity to use state-of-the-art manufacturing and inspection technologies in the future and to further automate production steps. The close collaboration between manufacturing and development is another key aspect associated with the new building. In addition to production technology, the "Schwarzhorn" is also setting new standards in terms of energy-related performance. Photovoltaic installations on the roof and facades, plus the use of process-related waste heat and groundwater for heating and cooling respectively, significantly reduce the need for energy from external sources. Another first for Pilatus is the company's goal of obtaining LEED Platinum certification for the new building. This internationally recognized label stands for sustainable construction and focuses on resource conservation, environmental protection and reduction of energy and water consumption. Cirrus launches purpose-built flight trainer. 8 July 2026 Cirrus Aircraft has unveiled the TRAC10, a purpose-built flight training aircraft designed to address what the company describes as a critical gap in modern aviation training. The three-seat aircraft features a rear observer station positioned between two large windows with an elevated view of the flight deck, making it suitable for crew-based observational training. Cirrus says the TRAC10 has the widest cabin in its class, with adjustable seats and rudder pedals to accommodate varying heights, multiple USB-C ports and optional air conditioning. Power comes from a turbocharged Rotax 916 iSc FADEC engine producing 160 horsepower, burning as little as 5.9 gallons per hour at 65 per cent power. The aircraft accepts 100LL, unleaded 91/94 and select Mogas, reducing fuel costs for flight schools. Safety features include Cirrus's signature CAPS whole-aircraft parachute system as standard, alongside Electronic Stability and Protection, a Blue Level Button for upset recovery, airline-style stick shakers for stall warning, and a cuffed-wing design to maximise spin resistance. The TRAC10 is equipped with a Garmin flight deck and Cirrus IQ digital fleet management, which wirelessly transmits aircraft data, automates database updates and monitors fuel, fluids and maintenance intervals remotely. Cirrus CEO Zean Nielsen said the aircraft reflected more than three decades of design experience. "The TRAC10 is our most deliberate answer yet to what professional flight schools need to succeed," he said. "Our focus on safety, efficiency, connectivity, and reliability serves every stakeholder in the professional pilot training equation." President of Innovation and Operations Pat Waddick said the aircraft challenged decades-old norms. "Our team designed in industry-leading safety, durability, ergonomics, and operational efficiency with advanced technology delivered through simple, intuitive interfaces, creating a smarter platform for the next generation of pilots." The TRAC10 starts at USD$499,900. US deliveries begin in 2027, with international deliveries following in 2028. Cirrus has already secured more than 100 orders from 13 professional flight schools worldwide.

"The Cirrus Talent Center represents the first touchpoint and impression many people will have with our company as a potential employer," said Cirrus CEO Zean Nielsen. "It reflects Cirrus' presence in our community, our commitment to delivering an exceptional team member experience, and our focus on advancing and developing operational excellence for both our teams and our aircraft owners." With this launch, the Minnesota-based manufacturer expands the TRAC family of aircraft, adding to the existing TRAC20, TRAC22 and TRAC22t models. However, unlike the latter, which are an evolution of Cirrus' popular SR20 light aircraft, the TRAC10 has been purpose-designed for the needs of flight schools. "The TRAC10 is our most deliberate answer yet to what professional flight schools need to succeed," said Zean Nielsen, Cirrus Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in a press release announcing the aircraft's launch. Pat Waddick, President of Innovation & Operations at Cirrus,stated that the aircraft maker had challenged decades-old norms to create a smarter platform for the next generation of pilots. The TRAC10 will be powered by a turbocharged Rotax 916 iSc FADEC engine, feature a three-seat interior, the widest in its class, which emphasizes crew-based observational training. It will also be fitted with a Garmin flight deck and the signature Cirrus Airframe Parachute System. The Cirrus IQ system, which will also be available on the TRAC10, will provide operators the means to digitally monitor a broad range of parameters relevant for fleet management, maintenance and operational updates. According to Cirrus, the TRAC10, the price tag of which will start at US$499,900, has already received 100 orders from 13 different flight schools. The new aircraft will be manufactured at Cirrus' manufacturing facility in Duluth, Minnesota, with first deliveries expected in 2027 to customers in the United States. The first international deliveries are expected to take place the following year.
