Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in corporate development at a tech/online payments company, a top-tier investment bank, or leading private equity firm with at least 5 years experience with structuring deals
- Demonstrated track record of managing complex M&A from end-to-end including sourcing, relationship development, negotiation, diligence, process management, closing and successful integration
- A deep understanding of modern business models, market and industry trends affecting the global trade economy
- Excellent qualitative & quantitative analytical skills with financial modelling expertise required for valuation and market sizing
- Ability to develop trusted relationships externally and internally. Be scrappy and an effective cross-functional collaborator
- Ability to build consensus in a working group and successfully coordinate and manage persons outside of your direct sphere of influence
- Ability to effectively balance multiple simultaneous priorities and deadlines with tight timelines
- Self-starter and comfort with ambiguity; must be self-directed and proactive starting day 1 on the job
- Strong presentation and communication skills and ability to distill complex issues into structured frameworks and concrete plans
- Broad network across technology and online payments, venture capital/growth equity and investment banks
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end execution of a variety of complex deal types (ex. strategic partnerships, strategic investments, asset purchases, mergers & acquisitions), including market research, sourcing, due diligence, deal negotiation and post-deal integration execution
- Collaborate with business unit leaders, the management team, and other executives across the organization to ensure a cohesive approach to strategy and implementation that maximizes long-term value for our business
- Develop and help lead plans to launch new business opportunities and strategic growth initiatives (e.g. GTM strategy formulation, capability assessment, pricing analysis)
- Provide strategic thought leadership to senior leaders across the business
- Run build/buy/partner analyses for teams across the organization
- Conduct comprehensive industry landscape analysis to identify trends and acquisition targets, track market developments and form relationships with acquisition targets in strategic areas, and cultivate key relationships with key constituents in the broader ecosystem (i.e. venture investors, angel investors, investment bankers, other strategics)
- Conduct due diligence, develop business cases, build detailed financial models (DCF, comps, accretion / dilution), and work closely with internal leaders and external advisors
- Ensure a successful acquisition integration by developing detailed, cross-functional integration plans and regular check-ins with leadership of acquired teams
- Mentor a talented team
