Requirements
  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
  • At least 2 years of workers' compensation experience is required.
  • Prior workers' compensation experience supporting multiple attorneys and managing competing deadlines is required.
  • Ability to type at least 70 words per minute is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, is required.
  • The candidate must be organized, self-motivated, able to prioritize, and able to work independently.
  • The candidate must demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and produce professional work product.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with a positive and respectful attitude is required.
  • Experience with a document management platform is required; experience with Litify is a plus.
Responsibilities
  • Provide legal assistant support to two or more attorneys.
  • Identify and flag critical documents requiring timely responses and associated deadlines to protect clients, insureds, and the company from sanctions and unnecessary litigation.
  • Coordinate and schedule meetings, hearings, appointments, and depositions.
  • Maintain and manage attorney calendars while avoiding and resolving conflicts.
  • Generate draft templates, including pleadings, motions, objections, and correspondence, for attorney review and approval.
  • Assemble medical packets for experts with itemized schedules of records.
  • Process documents by assembling, copying, scanning, serving, and electronically filing them as appropriate.
  • Manage and prioritize competing deadlines.
  • Communicate with claim partners, clients, witnesses, courts, opposing counsel, vendors, and team members.
  • Maintain data integrity in the document management platform, including documents, parties, roles and relations, and naming conventions.
  • Timely transmit and request payments to vendors, experts, and other parties.
  • Apply knowledge of local court rules and filing requirements.
  • Assist the Managing Attorney and Manager with special assignments as needed.
  • Provide backup support by answering inbound main-line calls and routing inquiries to the correct team member.
  • Greet and manage guests and vendors.
  • Retrieve, scan, and route incoming mail to the appropriate team and Claims department.
  • Monitor and process office electronic mailbox correspondence.
  • Process outbound United States Postal Service and FedEx mail.
  • Provide office support as needed, including submitting tickets for failing equipment, ordering office supplies, and assisting peers during paid time off.
