Job Description:
Assume responsibilities for Honors College external communications for the purpose of general publicity, recruiting, student communications and alumni and donor cultivation through the Honors College website, LSU University Relations, the general public, and social media. Purpose of this position is to raise the public profile of the Honors College and encourage the creation of an Honors College community, including present students, alumni, and supporters.
Job Responsibilities
Shape the Ogden Honors College’s communications strategy and develop compelling written/digital/visual content through both internal and external perspectives. Develop and manage detailed, complex, cross-team communication projects that take into account all requirements, constraints, resources, and deliverables associated with defined objectives. Synthesize key messages to align messaging with the strategic vision and goals of the OHC. Drive the daily communications agenda, ensuring a complete understanding of current priorities while driving the quality and timeliness of deliverables and activities. (30%)
Manage the strategy, development, and content of the OHC website. Define and execute an effective digital strategy for all OHC needs and ensure technical functionality of the website. Serve as project manager for all website revisions and initiatives. Examine and analyze site traffic and advise on implications for the overall communication strategy. Work with LSU’s web team to find innovative ideas for web communication and to maximize site traffic. (20%)
Plan and execute a social media marketing strategy for OHC that supports its mission, vision, goals, and objectives. Develop clear, compelling, consistent, and credible content for the OHC on social media. Establish and maintain a strong presence on social media platforms. Monitor social media and identify issues and opportunities for engagement, as well as the need for a response beyond social media. (20%)
Manage paid, owned, and earned media efforts across an integrated marketing ecosystem. Write, edit, and pitch press releases to secure media coverage. Turn OHC marketing messages and assets into compelling media stories. Coordinate meetings, interviews, and events for OHC Leadership. (10%)
Connect and bolster the alumni network of the College. Lead, develop, and execute email marketing/digital strategies to connect with alumni and supporters nationwide. Develop coordinated activities to maintain alumni information and inform members of the network of Ogden Honors College news and events. Identify target audiences and grow OHC’s email list. (10%)
Collaborate on and participate in engagements at key internal and external events. Proof and edit all content-related materials for event-related marketing deliverables. Network with Honors students and faculty, take photographs, and share event information and images over Honors social media. Other duties as assigned. (10%)
Additional Requirements
FERPA - As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center. In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's in Communications, Liberal Arts, Marketing, English, Film and Television with 3 years of experience.
Specific Experience - A demonstrated capability to write compelling promotional/news stories and to manage multiple projects at once.
