Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
  • Registered or Registry eligible in Radiography (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
  • Current licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association
  • Registered in Advanced Imaging Modality or registry eligible, and will become registered within one year of eligibility
  • Current registration in Radiology from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
  • ARRT CT Registration required within one year of placement
  • 0-2 years of modality-specific work experience
  • Current Basic Life Support certification
Responsibilities
  • Perform radiologic examinations timely, accurately and safely for radiologist interpretation, ensuring exams are routed to Picture Archiving and Communications System for interpretation as soon as complete
  • Ensure exam protocols are followed with appropriate anatomical markers and positioning, images free of artifacts and motion
  • Screen patients and verify patient history, safety protocols, contraindications, and orders
  • Review schedule or patient record 3-5 days prior to scheduled appointment to evaluate appropriateness and contraindications
  • Collaborate with radiologists, referring physicians, and clinics to address issues prior to patient arrival
  • Prepare radiology suite and adjacent areas to receive patients and visitors
  • Ensure equipment is available and functioning; perform quality control per American College of Radiology and manufacturer guidelines; report downtime or errors to service vendor, manager, and clinical staff
  • Ensure exam rooms and patient areas are clean; follow infection control guidelines; report environmental issues to manager
  • Contribute to safety culture by analyzing workflows, addressing barriers, using PSI reporting system, and participating in meetings
  • Address patient care problems as they arise and involve supervisor or care team as needed
  • Evaluate and respond to verbal and non-verbal communication from patients at various development stages
  • Complete procedures following approved protocols efficiently to promote departmental efficiency
  • Complete required documentation for each procedure (computer and handwritten)
  • Demonstrate technical competence in operation of imaging equipment and related supplies; possess knowledge of physics, anatomy, imaging techniques, and medical terminology
  • Introduce self to patients, explain procedures, assist at end, and explain next steps
  • Maintain professional demeanor in attitude, appearance, and communication
  • Obtain pertinent history, verify orders, and communicate effectively with co-workers and clinic staff to provide excellent patient care
