Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience is required.
  • Experience with project accounting, job cost accounting, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and monthly close processes is required.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, formulas, and financial analysis, are required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to quickly learn enterprise resource planning systems, financial reporting tools, and workflow platforms are required.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills are required to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills are required to work effectively with project teams, field personnel, leadership, vendors, and corporate departments.
  • The ability to work independently while maintaining collaboration across functional teams is required.

Responsibilities
  • Apply earned value methodologies in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standard 15 to measure project performance, cost efficiency, and profitability.
  • Assist Project Managers in validating Cost-to-Complete and Estimate at Completion forecasts.
  • Analyze project cost, schedule, and revenue assumptions and identify inconsistencies for discussion with Project Management.
  • Monitor project costs, budgets, commitments, and financial performance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide project financial reporting, variance analysis, cash flow forecasting and analysis, and cost insights to support monthly project forecasts prepared in collaboration with the Project Manager and Vice President of Finance.
  • Identify financial risks and opportunities that may impact project margins, profitability, and cash flow.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to Project Managers and Finance leadership to support informed business decisions.
  • Review contracts, change orders, claims, and contract modifications to assess financial impacts, ensure compliance with contractual and revenue recognition requirements, and support commercial decision-making.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities, including account reconciliations and audit requirements.
  • Prepare and post journal entries and reconcile general ledger, project, and balance sheet accounts in support of the monthly close process.
  • Analyze indirect job costs, equipment costs, shop costs, general and administrative expenses, and other operating results, identifying significant variances and trends.
  • Support internal and external financial reporting requirements.
  • Review invoices, purchase orders, contracts, payroll allocations, and project transactions for completeness and accuracy.
  • Monitor compliance with company accounting policies, financial procedures, and regulatory requirements while identifying control deficiencies and recommending corrective actions.
  • Maintain complete and audit-ready documentation supporting significant project financial positions, estimates, and accounting judgments.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests by gathering documentation, preparing schedules, and responding to information requests.
  • Identify process improvements, reporting enhancements, recurring errors, and control opportunities to improve efficiency and financial accuracy.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to enhance project financial controls, operational efficiency, and reporting accuracy.
  • Collaborate with Project Management, Operations, Procurement, and Finance to streamline workflows, improve data integrity, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Build collaborative relationships with Project Management, Operations, Procurement, and Finance to support project execution, financial performance, and informed business decisions.
  • Perform other project accounting, financial analysis, reporting, and ad hoc duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of project accounting principles, International Financial Reporting Standards, and revenue recognition requirements, including International Financial Reporting Standard 15, is preferred.
  • Experience in construction, engineering, project-based, industrial, or multi-location environments is preferred.
  • A Certified Public Accountant designation, active progress toward certification, or Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional designation is a plus.

Keller, Inc. to build for Thermo Fisher scientific/oakbrook Corporation. FITCHBURG, Wis. - Thermo Fisher Scientific, in partnership with Oakbrook Corporation (Property Manager), is moving forward with an addition to expand its loading dock capabilities. The project includes two new loading docks, an improved turning radius, and redesigned traffic flow to better accommodate semi-truck deliveries. The project is being delivered through a design-build partnership with Keller, Inc., an award-winning, 100% employee-owned design-build contractor headquartered in Kaukauna. Thermo Fisher Scientific selected Keller after previous conversations about the design-build process and identified this project as an ideal opportunity to implement the delivery method for the first time. Designed to enhance operational efficiency, the project includes selective demolition of an existing area inside the current loading dock footprint to create a more functional and productive space. Once complete, the improvements will support increased productivity for a growing business unit. Construction is scheduled to begin this summer, with completion anticipated in Fall 2026.
