Requirements
  • Completion of an approved American Medical Association program or documented on-the-job training.
  • Completion of all major competency verifications annually.
  • Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification.
  • At least one year of experience with adults, children, and neonates; a clinical rotation with a reference may substitute for neonate experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Perform all aspects of electroencephalogram testing for inpatients and outpatients according to prescribed schedules, physician orders, competencies, and protocols.
  • Coordinate with physicians, nurses, allied staff, patients, and families to schedule and provide testing for patients of all ages.
  • Document procedures, report adverse reactions, and bill for services rendered.
  • Evaluate minor and major equipment needs and assist in purchasing decisions.
  • Ensure all equipment operates properly and is maintained according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Perform electroencephalogram testing according to physician orders on both inpatients and outpatients.
  • Work with patients of all ages with little supervision for extended periods.
  • Prepare reports and electroencephalogram technical findings and transmit them to neurology for interpretation.
