Requirements
  • A Master's degree and at least 1 year of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Current CPR, Basic Life Support, and Automated External Defibrillator certifications.
  • A State of Florida Athletic Training License.
  • Maintenance of certification and license requirements of the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer and the State of Florida.
  • Authorization to work for any U.S. employer.
Responsibilities
  • Provide athletic training services for the Recreation and Wellness Center's sports programs, including intramural sports, sport clubs, and general open recreation, and attend scheduled competitions as necessary.
  • Assist with coordinating and scheduling student-athletes for medical referrals and determine their ability to practice or compete in consultation with team physicians and the Athletic Training and Risk Management Coordinator.
  • Consult with team physicians and other athletic trainers regarding treatment of injured student-athletes and report on their progress.
  • Report the status of injured student-athletes to appropriate Recreation and Wellness Center supervisors and meet periodically with Risk Management Team members to identify and discuss problem areas.
  • Assist with compiling, entering, organizing, and maintaining medical records for student-athletes.
  • Assist with enforcing codes of conduct and rules of use for the Athletic Training Clinic, Recreation and Wellness Center facilities, and equipment related to athletic training functions.
  • Share responsibility for maintaining and cleaning the athletic training clinic.
  • Work with Recreation and Wellness Center staff regarding the safety and use of athletic equipment.
  • Work with Recreation and Wellness Center staff regarding the safety of practice and competition surfaces and general field and court conditions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience working as an athletic trainer in a recreational setting.
  • Demonstrated customer service experience in a health, fitness, or recreational setting.
