Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A current Maine driver's license is required.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct daily rounds and record oxygen and temperature readings while checking mechanical equipment according to rounding sheets.
  • Complete assigned preventive, predictive, repair, and break-in maintenance work orders.
  • Perform mechanical work on pumps, motors, fans, bearings, belts, hoses, and lubrication systems.
  • Install and repair plumbing fixtures, perform general piping repairs, and unclog pipes.
  • Perform heating, ventilation, and air conditioning maintenance.
  • Assist the electrician as necessary.
  • Perform painting throughout hospital buildings.
  • Perform snow removal, salting, sanding, and related winter grounds work.
  • Perform general grounds maintenance, including plowing and snow removal.
  • Perform general building construction work.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment as necessary.
  • Collect and dispose of trash and red-bag waste as needed.
  • Perform floor care, including sweeping, vacuuming, stripping, and waxing.
  • Conduct hospital-wide preventive and corrective maintenance projects.
  • Deliver materials between buildings, transport laboratory specimens, and pick up or drop off bank deposits.
  • Perform shredding collection duties.
  • Conduct building security rounds during shift hours and complete daily activity sheets.
  • Occasionally observe patients who may be confused, combative, agitated, or a safety concern to themselves or others.
  • Use safe driving practices when operating hospital vehicles.
  • Assist with off-site needs, Environmental Services Technicians, and moving equipment or furniture as needed.
  • Work with department leadership to create snow-plowing and removal plans and adjust between day and night hours when required.
  • Maintain reliable phone communication for emergency messaging services.
  • Participate in the hospital-wide Quality Improvement Program and department-specific quality improvement initiatives and projects.
  • Participate in emergency and disaster preparedness planning, drills, and hospital response when requested.
  • Communicate respectfully and thoroughly with staff and leadership at all levels.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of commercial floor care, HVAC, construction, carpentry, and grounds maintenance.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
