tastytrade Continues to Invest in the Future of AI for Active Traders.

tastytrade Continues to Invest in the Future of AI for Active Traders. Published Aug 13, 2026 Updated Aug 13, 2026 Earlier this year, tastytrade placed its conviction on where trading technology is headed, and just as importantly, on the people building it. In May 2026, it acquired the technology and team behind Wagl, an AI-native trading technology company designed to empower active options traders with tools for market research, portfolio analysis, and trade execution. The move represents a significant expansion of tastytrade's AI strategy. Wagl was built from the ground up for the mechanics of equity and options trading, the kind of nuance that generic AI tools tend to gloss over. It's conversational AI combining market data, options analytics, portfolio review tools, and rules-based strategy scoring, purpose-built for options-focused traders who want more information at their fingertips and faster ways to act on it. Bringing in the right team Wagl's co-founders, Alec Baum and Brian Ash, have joined tastytrade to lead the integration and expansion of AI across the organization, and their track record speaks for itself. "We built Wagl to meet traders where they are and increase the breadth of information at their fingertips. Unlike integrations that connect accounts to general-purpose AI models, Wagl's technology was purpose-built for the active trader," said Alec Baum, tastytrade's General Manager of AI Products & Developer API. Alec previously co-founded Optionality and served as its CEO for three years before its acquisition by Lightspeed Financial Services Group, where he focused on options technology and growth. Prior to starting Optionality, Alec learned the ropes of options trading at Susquehanna International Group. He's now leading its AI Products and Developer API work. Brian joins as Principal Engineer, AI Innovation, with more than 15 years of experience founding and scaling software companies. As CTO of Optionality, he worked alongside Alec to deliver trading solutions that hold up in the real world, and he brings deep expertise in software architecture, platform development, and getting complex technical products into traders' hands. Bringing this team in-house means the people who understand this problem most deeply are now building for tastytrade customers directly. What this means for traders tastytrade's goal has always been to help traders research markets, analyze their portfolio, and act on trade ideas with more confidence. Acquiring Wagl and the team behind it moves Tastytrade toward technology that understands options strategy mechanics and real trader workflows at a level beyond what's currently out there. There's a lot of work ahead, and tastytrade will be sharing more as these tools make their way into the platform. For now, the company is excited to welcome Alec and Brian from Wagl, and to keep building the kind of AI that works the way active traders actually think.

tastytrade launches Global Trading Hours: overnight index options Trading built for active traders.

tastytrade launches Global Trading Hours: overnight index options Trading built for active traders. Published Aug 10, 2026 Updated Aug 10, 2026 SPX, VIX, XSP, and RUT options now trade nearly 24 hours a day, five days a week on tastytrade. CHICAGO, IL - August 10, 2026 / Business Wire - tastytrade, the online brokerage firm created by traders for self-directed investors, announced full support for Cboe Global Trading Hours (GTH), giving customers real-time access to S&P 500 Index (SPX), Cboe Volatility Index (VIX), Mini-SPX (XSP), and Russell 2000 Index (RUT) options well beyond the regular trading session. Eligible index options now trade in Cboe's Global Trading Hours session, which runs overnight from 8:15 p.m. ET to 9:25 a.m. ET - Sunday evening through Friday morning - and the Curb session, 4:15 to 5:00 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, in addition to regular trading hours. The offering is built for event-driven trading. Economic releases such as CPI and PPI reports land before the market opens, and international news can move US markets all the same. With Global Trading Hours offering close to 24-hour trading sessions, tastytrade now provides its customers with the opportunity to act the moment news breaks with extended trading hours, not the morning after. It also extends the instruments tastytrade's core customers already rely on for hedging, macro positioning, and volatility trading. tastytrade is also preparing for the next phase of extended-session trading for single stock options, with the goal of offering access on day one, bringing around-the-clock trading to earnings season for the first time. "Institutional traders have always had access to the overnight session, and we're putting that same capability in the hands of the active retail traders who will actually use it," said Pete Mulmat, Head of Brokerage, tastytrade/IGNA. "Our customers are already among the most engaged index options traders anywhere. XSP is a top 10 product on our platform while it sits outside the top 40 industry wide." The launch comes as overnight activity accelerates. According to Cboe, GTH volume has set records in consecutive months, recently accounting for more than 4% of total SPX options volume, up sharply from roughly 3% just months earlier. GTH works exactly like the regular session on tastytrade's platform, using the same order ticket and the same workflow on desktop and mobile, with limit orders and dedicated time-in-force options (Global Hours and GTC Global Hours). tastytrade's education and live financial network affiliate, tastylive, covers trading and managing SPX in the GTH session every weekday morning from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. CT, in real time before the open. Dedicated GTH programming and a webinar series will follow across tastylive and YouTube. GTH is available now on all tastytrade platforms for SPX, VIX, XSP, and RUT options. For more information, visit tastytrade.com/global-trading-hours. Options involve risk and are not suitable for all investors. Please read Characteristics and Risks of Standardized Options before investing in options. Trading during extended hours involves additional risks, including but not limited to reduced liquidity, increased volatility, wider bid-ask spreads, and the potential impact of news released outside of regular market hours.

tastytrade forges into prediction markets, focusing on traders, not bettors.

tastytrade forges into prediction markets, focusing on traders, not bettors. Posted on: July 27, 2026, 12:59h. Last updated on: July 27, 2026, 01:00h. Key points. * tastytrade unveiled its prediction market today * The brokerage firm is focusing on cryptocurrency and financial derivatives, not sports event contracts * It's partnering with Apex Fintech Solutions tastytrade, an options brokerage house well-known to sophisticated retail traders, launched its prediction market platform today with an emphasis on various financial derivatives. Known as "Prediction Markets," the tastytrade offering is supported by Apex Fintech Solutions and is the first brokerage firm to use Apex's Futures Clearing Merchant (FCM) infrastructure. In prediction markets, an FCM is essential because the entity is a regulated conduit between the customer and the exchange. FCMs custody customer funds, manage collateral and serve other compliance functions. The tastytrade platform is regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), which oversees prediction markets in this country. Traders can access tastytrade's yes/no offering on a 24/7 basis directly from the tastytrade platform, but event contracts will be traded in what the company described as "segregated accounts." tastytrade focusing on finance. With its event contract platform, tastytrade is staying in its lane, focusing on financial derivatives that are in the wheelhouses of its client base. The company is offering yes/no derivatives on instruments such as equity indexes, Treasury yields and volatility gauges as well as on major economic data reports, including the Consumer Price Index (CPI), nonfarm payrolls and GDP. The brokerage house is also offering event contracts on several of the largest digital currencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana and XRP. That's a potentially shrewd move because cryptocurrency is one of the fastest-growing non-sports segments in the prediction market industry. The platform also features yes/no derivatives on some of the most widely traded commodities, such as copper, crude oil, gold, natural gas and silver. No sports on tastytrade prediction market. To some industry observers and traders, tastytrade's exclusion of sports event contracts may be noteworthy, but it's a smart move when considering it is those derivatives that have the broader prediction market industry in legal and regulatory crosshairs across the U.S. Plus there's evidence of brokerage firms and exchange operators finding success with yes/no derivatives while leaving sports out of the equation with Interactive Brokers (NASDAQ: IBKR) standing as one prime example. As for tastytrade, it has the potential to be a legitimate competitor in the non-sports side of the prediction market industry as it has, by one estimate, approximately 500,000 customers. Another estimate indicates the average account balance is $12,000.
