Responsibilities
  • Performs advanced inspections beyond inspector capability of pilot parts, tooling, purchased parts or finished company products according to well-defined criteria using CMM or laser scanning equipment plus precision hand instruments
  • Prepare CMM programs for inspection or verify pilot parts using laser scanner
  • Perform detailed measurement and programming utilizing Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)
  • Utilize blueprint requirements and/or purchase order requirements to approve parts for production
  • Provide accurate and complete documentation (including photos) to support work
  • Ensures work is in compliance with ISO procedures and work instructions
  • Gives assistance to production personnel relative to the inspection process as required
  • May be required to make minor repairs or adjustments or turn equipment in for calibration, cleaning or repair
  • Sets production and/or other gages for own use or use by other employees
  • Performs any and all tasks associated with the Materials Disposition area, as required
  • Visually, mechanically, electrically, or dimensionally inspect production material and completed product for defects. Notifies supplier quality of non-conforming material or product and as required screens non-conforming material
  • Ability to read and interpret basic documents, safety rules and other correspondence
  • Ability to count and measure parts and equipment
  • Conduct process capability studies and analyze results
  • Develop inspection instructions, test records and charts
  • Conduct quality audits of procedures
  • Act as liason between shifts and departments for solutions to conformance problems
