About the role:
The Accountant plays a critical role within our US accounting team. This individual will be responsible for highly visible accounting areas and will be supported directly by the Sr. Accounting Manager. We are looking for a team player who is ready to support our next phase of growth at Samsara by working through complex areas efficiently and effectively. This role will interact with various cross functional teams - excellent written and verbal communication are a must. This is a great role for someone who wants to learn quickly and become part of an excellent, high performing team.

In this role, you will:
- Perform various GL month-end close activities
- Prepare journal entries and related account reconciliations
- Develop relationships and work effectively with teams outside of accounting including payroll, sales compensation, order-to-cash, among others
- Demonstrate extreme ownership of assigned accounts which may include, among others, deferred commissions, marketable securities and investments, and complex bank account arrangements
- Help implement process improvements by identifying weaknesses in the close process
- Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices
Minimum requirements for the role:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting
- CPA or interest in obtaining CPA
- 3+ years relevant accounting experience
- Experience working under strict deadlines and ensuring compliance with company policies
- Must be a fast learner, multi-tasker with a strong desire to learn and a ‘can do’ attitude
- Able to work with a high volume of transactions in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of operational accounting processes
- Must be able to collaborate and communicate effectively
- Experience with NetSuite and intermediate Excel skills strongly preferred
- Critical thinker, able to implement scalable processes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organization skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through
Samsara’s Compensation Philosophy: Samsara’s compensation program is designed to deliver total compensation (based on role, level, and geography) that is above market. We do this through our base salary + bonus/variable + restricted stock unit awards (RSUs). A new hire RSU award is awarded at the time of hire, and additional RSU refresh grants may be awarded annually.
We pay for performance, and top performers are eligible to receive above target equity refresh awards which allow employees to achieve higher market positioning.
The range of annual base salary for full-time employees for this position is below. Please note that base pay offered may vary depending on factors including your city of residence, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
$59,024—$86,800 USD
