Requirements
  • A technical education, preferably in Computer Science; a university degree or equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
  • At least five years of internationalization and localization experience.
  • At least four years of software engineering experience and at least two years in localization software engineering.
  • At least three years of software development experience in a Java or JavaScript environment.
  • Good knowledge of software development frameworks, programming languages, scripting languages, and database systems.
  • Knowledge of Java, JavaScript, XML, and HTML in a development environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of the internationalization and localization industry and its technical aspects.
  • Solid experience with SDL WorldServer or a similar translation management system.
  • Knowledge of localization workflow management.
  • Ability to work in HTML and XML code view for component content management.
  • Knowledge of global content management systems.
  • Good knowledge of localization and internationalization of complex software products.
  • Solid experience with localization tools such as Trados, Passolo, SDL, and WorldServer.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Ability to communicate technical issues to technical and non-technical leadership.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multilingual and multicultural environment.
Responsibilities
  • Work with developers, localization program managers, reviewers, and release management to deliver localized content and products on time and with high linguistic quality.
  • Produce localized versions of software products in collaboration with the globalization team and external localization vendors.
  • Participate in planning and identify localization issues early to mitigate risk.
  • Coordinate end-to-end localization of user interfaces, documentation, and training materials, including translation, review, local-language verification, and release.
  • Facilitate adoption of pseudo-localization tools.
  • Design and implement tools, scripts, and processes for localization testing, user-interface screen capture, and other software-localization and documentation-translation activities.
  • Coordinate all phases of assigned translation projects, including file preprocessing and postprocessing, file tracking, versioning and management, and project archiving.
  • Review and troubleshoot defects escalated by vendors, international offices, and partners to determine the problem source and support resolution.
  • Define and prepare localization toolkits containing resource files, translation instructions, and processes for software globalization and localization.
  • Supervise vendors' technical-process workflows for quality and productivity.
  • Collaborate with software engineers and product teams to review products and processes proactively for potential localizability problems.
  • Participate in designing, developing, and maintaining internal tools to establish repeatable, lean, and automated product-localization processes.
  • Support external localization teams by answering technical questions about software localization and documentation-translation kits.
  • Configure translation-management software, set up workflows and glossaries, and maximize translation leverage by understanding parsing rules, penalties, and algorithms.
  • Partner with digital marketing and development teams and localization and web-hosting vendors.
  • Launch and manage translation projects.
  • Apply process mapping and design, complex file types, desktop-publishing tools, and related processes.
