Basic computer knowledge and some data entry experience is a requirement.
Understand technical and non-technical procedures required to process and forward accessioned specimens to the designated laboratory location for testing.
Maintenance of processing refrigerator and freezer temperature logs.
Maintenance of processing centrifuges and logs.
Responsible for checking-in all Couriers and receiving samples.
Assist Phlebotomists with labeling of samples if needed.
Must be able to adjust to increased workloads.
Must be able to periodically lift or move biohazard waste bins which could weigh more than 20 lbs.
Able to locate and pull specimens from refrigerated storage as needed or requested.
Learns and keeps familiar with lab procedures and policies.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Above average communication skills in English especially via telephone
MATH SKILLS: Basic Math skills
COMPUTER SKILLS: Basic Microsoft Products, Data Entry, Internet; Ability to use and learn proprietary software systems
Education and Experience: High School or Equivalent (GED); 1 to 2 years of experience
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Potential exposure to blood and body fluid: Performs tasks which involve exposure to blood, body fluid, or tissue.
