Requirements
  • Degree in Materials Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 1-3yrs hands-on experience in a service or research lab or similar environment
  • Hands-on experience operating SEM/FIB, 2D X-Ray, CSAM, FTIR, and other similar analytical instruments
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adapt to new techniques and technologies
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, and balance priorities across multiple projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and work effectively in a team environment
Responsibilities
  • Utilize and operate analytical instruments such as FTIR, SEM/EDS, XRF, TGA, GC/MS, X-ray/CT-Scan, C-SAM, etc. to drive failure analysis investigations
  • Apply fundamental materials knowledge of metallics, non-metallics, plastic composites, glasses, ceramics to support Failure Analysis investigations. Follow Process-Structure-Properties/Performance principle
  • Prepare reports and data interpretation of technical findings, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and present findings to internal customers
  • Responsible for setting up novel sample preparation, advanced analytical method development, and sample analysis in support of Tesla engineering activities
  • Drive analytical equipment troubleshooting, maintenance, service, and evaluation/purchasing processes
  • Mentor junior staff members on operation, interpretation, maintenance and troubleshooting of analytical Instruments used in FA lab
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive project timelines and goals
