Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing, associate's degree in nursing, or nursing diploma program.
  • Registered nurses without a bachelor's degree in Nursing or higher must enroll in an appropriate Bachelor of Science in Nursing program within two years of starting and complete it within five years.
  • At least twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required; employees with six months of experience may be eligible at a manager's discretion if they are exceptional performers.
  • Current or compact registered nurse licensure in North Carolina is required.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required.
Responsibilities
  • Independently plan and provide professional nursing care for patients according to physician orders and established policies and procedures.
  • Provide nursing services to patients and families within the scope of a registered nurse as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
  • Plan, provide, supervise, and document professional nursing care using the nursing process, individualizing care plans based on patient assessment and response to care.
  • Delegate tasks and supervise licensed and unlicensed care providers.
  • Assist nursing personnel, and serve as team leader or charge nurse for assigned patients or units.
  • Monitor the care environment and initiate corrective action involving equipment and material resources.
  • Maintain required competencies, identify learning needs, and pursue appropriate assistance or educational offerings.
  • Serve as a preceptor and support the development of staff and formal learners.
  • Identify clinical or operational performance-improvement opportunities and participate in performance-improvement activities.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the described work.
