Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in a scientific field and two years of research experience, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
  • Ability to work in person at an Emory University location; remote work is not an option.
  • Ability to work with, take specific precautions against, and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents.
  • Phlebotomy training will be provided for research teams with active research grants.
Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of specialized and complex research and laboratory tests and procedures under minimal supervision.
  • Use independent judgment in applying or adapting scientific techniques.
  • Assist in protocol design.
  • Investigate and propose alternative experimental procedures for consideration by a principal investigator.
  • Assist in planning and scheduling research procedures.
  • Analyze and interpret study results.
  • Demonstrate and train others in the proper use and operation of laboratory techniques and equipment.
  • Calibrate, troubleshoot, and perform routine repair and maintenance of equipment.
  • Review literature for related research developments and techniques and compile findings.
  • Monitor laboratory processes to maintain quality assurance standards.
  • Record study results, compile and analyze data, and prepare charts and graphs.
  • Monitor the handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous substances.
  • Work with undergraduate and graduate students, providing training and oversight for laboratory-space use in experiential learning.
  • Perform phlebotomy for research teams with active research grants.
  • Remain on call for laboratory emergency situations.
  • Ship and receive samples.
  • Perform laboratory techniques such as enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays, polymerase chain reaction, and spectrophotometry.
  • Support multiple research projects across various disciplines.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students in a research setting.
