- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- Non-expired Master/Mate (Oceans Unlimited) certification/license
- 1+ years of experience in an offshore role
- Towing certificate and dynamic position (DP2) and/or DP unlimited certificate
- Active/current US Coast Guard medical certificate/license
- 3+ years of experience in an off-shore crew role
- 1+ years of professional experience working in a role that deals with examinations or licensing-efforts with US Coast Guard (USCG) and/or American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) regulations
- Knowledge of vessel management systems, safety management systems, and regulatory programs such as OPA 90, MARPOL, ABS, etc
- Willing to work outdoors and in maritime environments, and able to work flexible hours during mission support periods
- Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral
- Position requires a Merchant Mariner credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing in accordance with 46 CFR 16 and 49 CFR 40
- Must be willing to travel to other SpaceX locations as necessary; role may require travel
- 50-hour work week is typical, and may vary depending on site operational needs, flexibility is required
- To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State. - Support towing and dynamic positioning (DP2) for various vessels, primarily supporting Falcon recovery and droneships
- Responsible for voyage planning, operations and the safety of all personnel onboard, primarily supporting recovery missions
- Support all aspects of safe operation, navigation, standards and crew management of SpaceX's fleet of vessels operating in the Atlantic, Gulf of Mexico, and Caribbean Sea
- Support weekly administrative reports and logbooks according to regulation and standards, with the goal of ensuring vessel-wide compliance
