Requirements
  • Intermediate to advanced understanding of pharmacy technology, including product dispensing, data entry, and adjudication workflow.
  • Proficiency in inventory management, including ordering and receiving processes, inventory freshness, return-to-stock procedures, and cycle counting.
  • Proficiency in managing medication therapy management and other patient-centered professional services.
  • Proficiency in applicable state and federal regulations and compliance with company operational policies and procedures.
  • Compliance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act standards.
  • Completion of all mandatory and regulatory training programs.
  • Passing a drug test and undergoing initial and continuous exclusion and sanction or disciplinary monitoring.
Responsibilities
  • Perform Pharmacy Clerk duties as needed, including running the cash register and answering telephones.
  • Learn and use the pharmacy management system, including reception and release to patient queues, and the point-of-sale system; follow instructions, complete tasks urgently, and maintain daily department standards.
  • Follow Quality Assurance policies and procedures, patient care programs and initiatives, and cash-control procedures.
  • Ensure every prescription is checked by a pharmacist before dispensing it to the patient.
  • Assist with initial submission and required resubmission of third-party claims.
  • Assist in managing pharmacy inventory, checking for outdated products, and processing returns.
  • Locate prescription files and other manual records from storage as needed.
  • Prepare and file manual records for pharmacist signatures and review.
  • Perform all store clerk duties as needed.
  • Complete assigned duties and other duties as directed.
  • Assist professional staff with triaging, processing, and delivering prescriptions to patients.
  • Assist with pharmacy inventory and third-party receivables.
Desired Qualifications
  • An Associate degree or higher.
  • Hospital or retail pharmacy experience.
  • Certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or another nationally recognized certification program.
  • For Vermont employees, registration with the State of Vermont as a Pharmacy Technician.
