The Role
The Manager Software Foundations and Architecture position will report to the VP of Autonomy and support the development of software for Outrider’s autonomous system. This position requires technical ability in software engineering, developer experience, robotics system development, and people leadership. This role will lead the development of software, architecture, tooling, and processes to enhance developer experience and accelerates the development of Outrider’s autonomous capabilities.
Duties & Key Objectives
- Guide technical development in software architecture
- Manage team leads in developer experience and software lifecycle, simulation, and data
- Support long term planning, scheduling, and budgeting
- Support hiring, mentoring and team growth
- Effectively partner with others in the organization with thoughtfulness and empathy
- Contribute generally to the growth and success of the Company and the building of a vibrant culture focused on the responsible deployment of zero-emission autonomous vehicle technology
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience managing teams with highly diverse skill sets
- Experience with hiring and retaining high-impact people from diverse backgrounds
- Experience mentoring engineers and other team members
- Experience evaluating and integrating external services and software
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Experience delivering successful products
- 10+ years of technical experience in the following areas:
- Software development, quality, and release processes and developer experience
- Software lifecycle and tooling including CI/CD pipelines
- Software systems architecture
- Interaction with cloud based software
- Simulation
- Robotics software development with C++, Python, Docker, and Linux
- 5+ years of team leadership experience including recruiting and building teams
- B.S. in Computer Science or related field
Ideal Qualifications
- Experience in Autonomous Driving Development
- Experience with Robotics Operating System (ROS)
- Familiarity with buildroot
- Familiarity with realtime systems
- Track record of delivering products built on hardware, software, and cloud components
