Requirements
  • A Master’s Degree or equivalent in Speech Language Pathology is required.
  • A valid state Speech-Language Pathologist license must be maintained where appropriate.
  • The employee must demonstrate effective clinical problem-solving skills, including identifying and prioritizing issues, developing and executing action plans, and ensuring appropriate results.
  • The employee must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • The employee must be able to build strong relationships with a diverse population.
  • The employee must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English instructions, correspondence, charts, memos, and reports.
  • The employee must be able to work in a fast-paced, productive work environment.
  • The employee must have proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • The employee must have basic Internet navigation skills.
  • The employee must frequently lift patients using appropriate biomechanical techniques and be capable of lifting thirty pounds of dead weight alone.
  • The employee must be able to travel between facilities during scheduled hours and work varying hours and shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities
  • Provide speech-language pathology therapy and related services for patients in assisted living, independent living, and memory care settings.
  • Screen residents as appropriate.
  • Evaluate and treat patients referred by a state-approved referral source who may benefit from therapy.
  • Develop initial and ongoing treatment plans of care and discharge plans.
  • Provide, direct, and oversee speech therapy to optimize patients’ communication, cognitive-linguistic abilities, and swallowing skills.
  • Complete accurate and timely billing and documentation in the medical record in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Establish and maintain effective, patient-centered interactions with patients, the interdisciplinary team, facilities, clients, and other clientele.
  • Directly supervise Rehab Techs during group and individual treatment to promote efficient resource utilization and ongoing development of clinical skills in accordance with State Practice Acts, the Omnibus Reconciliation Act, and company policy.
  • Integrate the role of speech-language pathology therapy into community and interdisciplinary treatment teams.
  • Contribute to community patient care, utilization review, case management, administrative staff and department head activities, family conferences, and related communications.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with health care professionals and colleagues in the community.
  • Refer patients appropriately to other members of the rehabilitation team.
  • Develop and implement new programs and techniques to enhance rehabilitation services.
  • Follow company and client policies and procedures concerning environmental safety, orderliness, risk management, infection control, and emergency preparedness.
  • Adhere to patient rights and privacy requirements.
  • Enhance clinical expertise and professional and management skills through interaction with managers, therapists, and other professional staff, self-study, and continuing education.
  • Maintain awareness of issues related to speech-language pathology therapy and the health care environment.
  • Apply relevant payment models, billing and treatment guidelines, and clinically appropriate methods of service delivery.
  • Provide quality care with reasonable goals and outcomes within applicable guidelines.
  • Comply with infection control procedures and environmental safety protocols.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company, community, and patient information.
  • Conduct oneself in an ethical, legal, and responsible manner.
  • Adhere to the Team Member Handbook and Code of Business Conduct.
  • Attend mandatory meetings, training, and delegated assignments.
  • Perform other assigned duties and responsibilities.

How Nexion Health and Reliant Rehabilitation Are Building Awareness, Advocacy, and Stronger Connections to Resident Care using RPCEA At Nexion Health, in partnership with Reliant Rehabilitation, Nexion Health, Inc. continue to focus on proactive systems that support quality outcomes, survey readiness, staff education; resident engagement, advocacy and access; as well as consistent program execution across its facilities. One important part of that commitment is the Rehab Program Compliance & Education Audit, known as RPCEA. RPCEA is more than a checklist. It is a structured annual compliance and education cycle designed to ensure rehab programs are implemented, understood, reinforced, and consistently executed at the facility level. Through this process, each facility has an organized opportunity to review key rehab program expectations, strengthen interdisciplinary awareness, and reinforce education with both staff and residents. Why RPCEA matters. Rehabilitation programs are most successful when they are visible, interdisciplinary, and well-integrated into the day-to-day operations of the facility. RPCEA supports that goal by helping teams stay connected to the "why" behind each program, the documentation that supports it, and the education needed to sustain it. The RPCEA process promotes proactive readiness, not reactive correction. Rather than waiting until a concern arises, the monthly cadence allows facilities to build consistency over time through brief, focused education and follow-through.
