Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • February 2026 revenue crossed $100 million ARR, with nearly 40% growth.
  • May 2025 Citi investment deepens regulated-finance credibility and enterprise distribution.
  • Dell partnership and 2026 Icehouse upgrades strengthen performance for multi-cloud AI workloads.

What critics are saying

  • Databricks Lakehouse Federation and Snowflake external tables commoditize cross-source SQL by 2027.
  • AIDA faces immediate competition from Microsoft Fabric, Databricks Genie, and OpenAI enterprise agents.
  • If AI and federation fail to outgrow Trino, Starburst becomes a niche query layer.

What makes Starburst unique

  • Trino-based federation queries 50+ sources without moving data, unlike Snowflake or Databricks.
  • Starburst Enterprise and Galaxy span on-prem, hybrid, and cloud deployments for regulated buyers.
  • AIDA, launched April 2026, reasons across governed enterprise data and workflows.
