Key Responsibilities

Under the general supervision of the course instructor:

• Performs grading and maintains grading records.
• Assists with tutoring.

• Must attend lectures in person as indicated.

EPSC 186 Astrobiology

• Is present during the lab to aid students.
• Performs grading.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. degree.
• Enrollment in the Earth & Planetary Sciences M.Sc. or Ph.D. graduate program.
• Have taken an introductory petrology course or demonstrate equivalent knowledge.
• Must be familiar with metamorphic and/or igneous petrology and be able to recognize the common rock-forming minerals in hand specimens and thin sections.
• Must be able to work with a petrographic microscope.
• Must be organized and approachable.
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of people.
• English, spoken and written.
• Ability to read French is desirable.

EPSC 225 Properties of Minerals

Key Responsibilities

• Under the general supervision of the course instructor:
• Prepares course material (including laboratory preparation, if applicable).
• Performs grading and maintains grading records.
• Assists with tutoring.
• Performs related duties.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. degree.
• Enrollment in the Earth & Planetary Sciences M.Sc. or Ph.D. graduate program.
• Knowledge of the course subject and material.
• Familiarity with the properties of hand specimens of the main ore and rock-forming minerals is an asset.
• Must be organized and approachable.
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of people.
• English, spoken and written.
• Ability to read French is desirable.

EPSC 303 Structural Geology.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead lab demonstrations.
• Grade and maintain grading records.
• Hold weekly office hours.
• Respond to student inquiries.
• Work under the general supervision of the course instructor and help with course material and laboratory preparation. Perform related duties as assigned.
• Participate in short field trips within the Montreal area, if applicable.

• B.Sc. degree.
• Enrollment in the Earth & Planetary Sciences M.Sc. or Ph.D. graduate program.
• Knowledge of the course subject and material.
• Must be organized and approachable, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of people.
• Proficiency in English, both spoken and written; ability to read French is desirable.

EPSC 334 Invertebrate Paleontology

Key Responsibilities

Under the general supervision of the course instructor:

• Prepares course material (including laboratory preparation, if applicable).
• Performs grading and maintains grading records.
• Assists with tutoring.
• Performs related duties.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. degree.
• Enrollment in the Earth & Planetary Sciences M.Sc. or Ph.D. graduate program.
• Knowledge of the course subject and material.
• Knowledge of the main kinds of marine invertebrate fossils in hand specimens is an asset.
• Must be organized and approachable.
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of people.

• Ability to read French is desirable.

EPSC 549 Hydrogeology

Key Responsibilities

Under the general supervision of the course instructor:

• Prepares course material (including laboratory preparation, if applicable).

• Enrollment in the Earth & Planetary Sciences M.Sc. or Ph.D. graduate program.
• Have taken a hydrogeology or groundwater engineering course or demonstrate equivalent knowledge.
• Hydrogeology research experience preferred.
• Must be organized and approachable.
• Ability to assist students with a diverse range of academic backgrounds.
• English, spoken and written.
• Ability to read French is desirable.

ESYS 104 The Earth System

Key Responsibilities

Under the general supervision of the course instructor:

• Prepare course material drawn from Geology, Atmospheres, Oceans, Geography, and related fields.
• Performs grading and maintains grading records.
• Assists with tutoring.
