Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from a college or university accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education is required.
  • Three years of relevant registered nurse experience are required.
  • A current unrestricted registered nurse license from any state is required.
  • Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support or Advanced Life Support certification are required.
  • The ability to pass a government background check or security clearance is required.
  • Knowledge of professional care theories, principles, practices, and procedures is required to perform nursing assignments of moderate difficulty and assess adult and geriatric patients.
  • Knowledge of medical disorders and conditions, diagnostic studies, and treatments is required.
  • Knowledge of preventive health schedules, disease management, population health principles, and education methods is required.
  • Knowledge of pharmacological agents, their desired effects, side effects, complications, and documentation requirements is required.
  • The ability to synthesize data from multiple sources and make appropriate clinical decisions is required.
  • The ability to coordinate patient care across the continuum and facilitate optimal clinical, quality, and cost-effective outcomes is required.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the medical treatment facility.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with patients, families, healthcare team members, and the organization regarding plans, actions, teaching, and education.
  • Prescribe and communicate treatment plans in accordance with established cardiac clinic protocols.
  • Determine the optimal time and location for patient management and arrange follow-up care as required.
  • Collect and assess significant patient history information and perform necessary patient teaching.
  • Arrange procedures and perform telephone follow-up as appropriate.
  • Ensure medications and supplies are replenished.
  • Provide clinical oversight of paraprofessionals involved in therapeutic treatments.
  • Complete orientation and competency verification programs in accordance with unit guidelines.
  • Serve and participate in committees, functions, and meetings as directed; provide relevant information and assist with decision-making and process improvement.
  • Participate in customer service initiatives, quality projects, and medical readiness activities designed to enhance health services.
Desired Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of the military healthcare system, including TRICARE health benefits, is strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of fee-for-service principles, preferred provider networks, and managed care or health maintenance organization organizations is desirable.
