Background
In 1993, Tipper Gore, then-First Lady Hillary Clinton, and 36 women gathered to discuss ways to give women a greater voice in the national party. The outcome was a new DNC finance council called the Women’s Leadership Forum (WLF). Since its formation, the WLF has established a strong record of fundraising for the Democratic Party through policy briefings, networking receptions, and the annual Women’s Leadership Forum Conference.
The Women’s Leadership Forum (WLF) continues to serve as the Democratic Party’s centralized hub for fundraising, activation, and mobilization for Democratic women and their allies. The Women’s Leadership Forum remains an integral part of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and a crucial vehicle for outreach, education, and fundraising, for the Democratic Party.
Role and Responsibilities
The Women’s Leadership Forum (WLF) Finance Director is responsible for identifying, cultivating, and maintaining relationships with top donors, in addition to planning and executing regional fundraising events, including the DNC’s WLF Conference. The WLF Finance Director will lead the execution of principal and surrogate involvement and fundraising from the WLF community and membership.
The WLF Finance Director will also be responsible for coordinating the WLF National Co-Chairs’ fundraising and engagement efforts across the country. The WLF Finance Director works closely with the Co-Chairs on short and long term strategy for the portfolio, including donor stewardship, virtual and in-person event planning, and securing gifts.
The WLF Finance Director will also be responsible for the annual Women’s Leadership Forum Conference and working cross-departmentally within the DNC to execute a highly attended conference program. The WLF Finance Director is responsible for fundraising and selling event tickets, as well as designing a conference program, and coordinating principals to attend.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, schedule, and execute fundraising travel including donor meetings and finance events;
- Develop a comprehensive cycle finance plan that aims to exceed goals;
- Provide stewardship to existing major donor portfolio;
- Regularly performs research to identify prospective supporters;
- Manage relationships with the Women’s Leadership Forum National Co-Chairs and lead weekly Co-Chair calls;
- Liaise with the constituency finance team to support a constituency and surrogate fundraising plan in the region.
Requirements:
- 5-7 years of related work experience;
- Experience with political fundraising;
- Detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills;
- Proven track record soliciting contributions at the major donor level;
- Strong and engaging interpersonal skills;
- Management experience desired but not required;
- Possess strong communication skills across multiple platforms;
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment;
- Proficient in Google Suite and NGP;
- Political campaign experience and event planning experience is strongly preferred.
The starting salary for the Women’s Leadership Forum Finance Director position is $70,000, on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position is not eligible for overtime wages and is in the bargaining unit represented by SEIU Local-500.
This position requires up to 15% travel both in the Washington, D.C. area and across the country to attend and support meetings and events.
