Requirements
  • An associate's degree in social work or a similar discipline is required.
  • The candidate must be able to read, write, and speak Spanish fluently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 360 applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and others, is required.
  • As a mandated reporter, the candidate must provide proof of completing training on recognizing and reporting child abuse that meets the training standards of Pennsylvania Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment, with recurrent training required every five years thereafter.
  • The candidate must meet the child protection clearances required by Pennsylvania Act 153, including Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check, and Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Record Check.
  • The candidate must have an understanding of and appreciation for The Salvation Army's mission.
Responsibilities
  • Greet visitors, answer phones, and provide administrative support.
  • Schedule meetings, handle mail, and keep the office organized.
  • Manage a caseload of clients seeking social services and provide social service assistance to eligible clients.
  • Assist with the UGI application process.
  • Answer phones, file documents, write inter-office communications, prepare mass mailings, and help design event flyers.
  • Assist clients with the Customer Assistance Program, Operation Share, and other programs.
  • Ensure that UGI, Customer Assistance Program, and Operation Share programs are effectively conducted and that follow-up phone calls and applications are properly processed.
  • Assist with food bank duties and emergency food and clothing duties.
  • Assist with Christmas assistance and the back-to-school backpack giveaway program.
  • Make referrals to other social service agencies to help meet clients' needs.
  • Make referrals to community-based mental health and substance abuse treatment centers and The Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Center.
  • Work with Corps Officers and the Corps Pastoral Care Team to provide pastoral care for families and individuals receiving social services.
  • Perform general office duties, including answering phones, transferring messages, filing, and gathering data and statistics.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
