Requirements
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • At least one year of post-Juris Doctor legal experience.
  • Active admission to practice law in any United States jurisdiction and admission to practice law in the State of Oklahoma.
  • United States citizenship or nationality.
  • Knowledge of and skill in applying federal, state, and City laws and ordinances.
  • Skill in written and verbal communication.
  • Skill in critically assessing and organizing a wide variety of information.
  • Skill in making oral presentations.
  • Skill in legal research software platforms such as Westlaw.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective, productive, and congenial working relationships with officials, employees, outside agencies, and individuals.
  • Ability to pass a drug test and a background investigation.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as a direct liaison between the Oklahoma City Police Department and the United States Attorney’s Office.
  • Evaluate cases involving firearms for potential federal prosecution.
  • Prepare and present firearms cases for federal prosecution.
  • Evaluate potential cases for prosecution based on priorities involving gang violence, violent offenders possessing firearms, and domestic abusers who use firearms in their crimes.
  • Prepare relevant pleadings and frequently appear in court.
  • Work individually and in a team setting under the guidance and supervision of the United States Attorney’s Office.
  • Appear at state and/or federal court hearings as necessary.
Desired Qualifications
  • Trial experience.
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Self-sufficiency.
  • Computer literacy, including experience with e-discovery and e-litigation platforms, electronic court filing, email, and word processing systems.
  • Skill in drafting and revising legal and other documents on a word processor.
