Responsibilities
  • Communicates pleasantly and appropriately with patients families, and coordinates patient flow in the department.
  • Responds to patient needs as requested by patient or any staff.
  • Ensures patient and staff safety at all times by following safety and infection prevention standards and practices.
  • Reports any situation that is potentially unsafe immediately, and or corrects any unsafe situation independently when discovered.
  • Cleans treatment areas and equipment per protocol independently without direction required.
  • Maintains clinic treatment areas ready for use.
  • Advises supervisor of malfunctions in equipment and/or informs Biomed and Plant Operations of need for repairs.
  • Maintains adequate department linen supply for patient care needs.
  • Gathers and transports dirty linen to the appropriate location.
  • Orders and maintains department inventory of clinical and pharmaceutical supplies as needed.
  • Maintains electronic listing of standardly ordered items.
  • Maintains record of ordering history.
  • Performs annual inventory of the department.
  • Communicates as needed with Purchasing and Pharmacy.
  • Checks-in all delivered supplies and communicates with staff as needed regarding these supplies.
  • Informs Director or Supervisor of new items requested by staff for review prior to ordering.
  • Performs Internet searches as assigned for new products or for more cost effective products.
  • Answers telephones and responds appropriately in contact with patients and staff.
  • Schedules patients using the Hospital Information System.
  • Performs patient charge entry into the hospital information system.
  • Assists in performing daily and monthly patient statistical records.
  • Organizes discharged patient charts according to medical record standards.
  • Enters last date of service into hospital Hospital Information System.
  • Accepts oversight by the Office Manager for clerical support duties.
  • Helps prepare patients before, during and after treatment and provides assist to therapist during treatment of patients under direct supervision of therapist.
  • Applies hot packs, cold packs and whirlpools per protocol and therapist instruction.
  • May participate in physically guiding patients during exercises as established by the therapist.
  • Actively pursues opportunities to assist Rehabilitation staff in fulfilling service needs to patients, therapists and clerical staff.
  • Participates in training new Rehabilitation Technicians and other support staff.
  • Participates in orienting new clinical staff and students in the processes that the Technician supports.
  • May participate in updates of department productivity spreadsheets.
  • Scans therapist productivity logs and charge sheets into the server as instructed.
  • Properly disposes of paper documents.
  • Provides support for other staff searching for this documentation, and helps train staff in scanning processes.
  • Leads maintenance exercise program as instructed by therapist.
  • Demonstrates use of all therapy equipment as requested by therapist.
  • Maintains and updates the maintenance exercise program flowcharts and billing records.
  • Accepts and properly receipts cash payments from maintenance exercisers.
  • Works in any Rehabilitation clinic site based on direction of Supervisor, Director or Office Manager, including with short notice due to staff absences and patient care needs.
  • Assists management in determining priority coverage task needs in all clinics.
Desired Qualifications
  • College level coursework in human service or health related field.
  • Two years of hospital experience in patient care areas.
  • Computer systems experience including use of scheduling software and Microsoft Office.
