Requirements
  • A valid Commercial Driver's License Class A is required.
  • A current X endorsement covering Hazmat and Tanker is required.
  • A Tanker endorsement (N) is required.
  • A Hazmat endorsement (H) is preferred and must be obtained within 90 days of hire; assistance is available.
  • A Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card is preferred or must be obtained after hire.
  • At least two years of verifiable tanker driving experience within the last five years is required.
  • Applicants must be at least 23 years of age.
  • Applicants must have a clean motor vehicle record and a strong safety record.
  • Applicants must have no DUI or OWI on record within the last five years.
  • Applicants must not be prohibited in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.
  • Applicants must have no at-fault or preventable fatal or rollover accident in the last five years.
  • Applicants must have no more than two moving violations in the last three years.
  • Applicants must have no more than two Commercial Safety Alliance moving violations in the last 18 months.
  • Applicants must have no falsification on the driver's application.
  • Applicants must be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical, drug screening, and background check.
  • Applicants must complete a minimum one-week new-hire in-person training.
  • Applicants must attend quarterly mandatory safety meetings.
  • Applicants must complete General Awareness testing in accordance with 49 CFR 172, Part H.
  • Applicants must comply with the Drug and Alcohol Policy and Department of Transportation requirements.
  • Applicants must be dependable, safety-minded, and capable of working independently.
  • Applicants must be willing to work flexible schedules, including 24/7 operations if needed.
Responsibilities
  • Safely operate tanker trucks transporting bulk liquid materials.
  • Load and unload bulk liquid materials using hoses, pumps, and valves while following strict safety protocols.
  • Conduct and document pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  • Maintain accurate trip records, logs, and inspection reports.
  • Communicate professionally with dispatchers and customers.
  • Adhere to Department of Transportation, Environmental Protection Agency, and all applicable safety and regulatory guidelines.
  • Represent Altom Transport professionally during customer interactions.
  • Report incidents and accidents and participate in injury investigations.
  • Use forward-facing cameras on Altom and contractor equipment.
  • Operate company equipment governed by the applicable equipment-governing requirements.
  • Comply with RCMS certification and health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Use provided personal protective equipment according to replacement policy guidelines.
