Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 6 years of experience working in Linux-based infrastructure, systems, or hardware engineering.
  • At least 4 years of experience with hardware troubleshooting, systems engineering, and performance analysis.
  • Experience developing software or automation, including AI-assisted automation, for infrastructure at scale.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with LinkedIn engineering teams to collect application requirements and provide guidance on selecting hardware platforms and solutions across general-purpose compute, GPU/accelerator, storage, and networking.
  • Design test environments and testing scenarios; benchmark compute, storage, and power using tools such as SPEC and SPECpower; and analyze qualification and performance results for engineers and senior leadership.
  • Qualify and integrate new server platforms and components end-to-end, working with hardware vendors on optimal configurations and driving the full integration process.
  • Work with other teams on cost and total cost of ownership analysis, present proposed solutions to decision makers, and define service-level agreements and technical standards with partner teams.
  • Qualify BIOS, BMC, and component firmware and drive fleet-wide upgrade programs.
  • Support and improve the reliability of the existing large-scale fleet, including fault detection and remediation, firmware management, and operating-system and security compliance.
  • Design, build, and own automation for hardware qualification, provisioning, lifecycle management, fleet health monitoring, and telemetry analysis.
  • Contribute to the performance and reliability of GPU platforms for artificial intelligence and machine-learning infrastructure, including InfiniBand and RDMA.
  • Troubleshoot complex hardware, firmware, kernel, and platform issues across the fleet and lead critical production incident response.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with x86 server architecture and multi-vendor hardware, BMC/BIOS, and firmware including IPMI/Redfish.
  • Experience qualifying and integrating new hardware platforms and operating them across a large-scale, diverse, multi-generation fleet.
  • Experience with hardware provisioning, imaging/operating systems, and lifecycle or inventory systems.
  • Experience building fleet health, observability, or reliability tooling, including fault detection, SMART and telemetry analysis, and data-driven thresholds.
  • Experience benchmarking with tools such as SPEC, SPECpower, fio, and UnixBench.
  • Experience with storage devices and performance engineering for NVMe, SSD, or HDD, and/or distributed or parallel filesystems such as GPFS and HDFS.
  • Experience with GPU/accelerator platforms, the machine-learning training stack including NCCL, collective communications, and CUDA, and high-performance networking including InfiniBand, RDMA, or RoCE.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and containerized workloads.
  • Experience working with hardware vendors on solution design and troubleshooting.
  • Experience preparing summary reports and visual presentations of benchmark and performance-test results for technical and executive audiences.
  • Familiarity with high-performance computing and machine-learning environments and solutions.

LinkedIn shuts Israel office, lays off nearly all 50 staff after $80M Oribi acquisition

LinkedIn is closing its Tel Aviv development centre and laying off nearly all of its roughly 50 employees. A small number will remain temporarily to handle ongoing business activities. The Microsoft-owned company opened the office in 2022 after acquiring Oribi, an Israel-based analytics startup founded by Iris Shoor, for an estimated $80 million to $90 million. At the time, LinkedIn said Oribi's technology would improve campaign attribution and measure website conversions. A LinkedIn spokesperson said the company is proposing changes to some roles to focus its teams on top priorities. The closure comes as Microsoft cuts costs, including a recent move to lay off 9,000 employees, though available information does not directly tie the Israel layoffs to broader restructuring.

LinkedIn launches paid advice sessions for premium users to monetise expertise

LinkedIn is rolling out a new feature for premium business subscribers that allows them to offer paid one-to-one advice sessions directly from their profiles. The tool, called Advice Sessions, enables followers to book and pay for consultations without leaving the platform. Derek Notman, founder of Intrepid Wealth Partners, said the feature could be particularly valuable for financial advisers seeking growth through new client connections. "It allows me to offer whatever services I want and get paid for it," Notman said. The launch comes as North American wealth managers have enjoyed annual growth rates of about 10% in assets under management over the past decade, though only 30% of that growth was organic, with the rest mainly attributable to market performance.

Microsoft's $20B ad business gets new leader as AI reshapes advertising landscape

Adobe and LinkedIn are launching a free "AI Essentials for Marketers" programme to address a widening skills gap in the marketing industry.
