  • A diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing is required.
  • The nurse must be licensed in the State of Illinois.
  • The nurse must be certified in CPR or complete CPR certification within 90 days of employment.
  • The nurse must demonstrate advanced skills in reading, writing, and oral communication.
  • The nurse must demonstrate knowledge of the basic skills of a professional nurse.
  • The nurse must demonstrate proficiency with clinical information systems, keyboarding, and computer systems.
Responsibilities
  • Assess patients' health status through interviews, observation, and physical assessment.
  • Develop individualized plans of care with specific goals and target dates in collaboration with patients, families, providers, and other appropriate healthcare team members.
  • Implement interventions identified in plans of care to move patients toward established goals or outcomes.
  • Evaluate and document patients' progress toward expected outcomes and modify plans of care based on patient responses.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation in patient medical records.
  • Use patient care equipment safely and apply relevant technical knowledge and skills.
  • Prioritize work based on changes in patient condition, assignments, and unanticipated interruptions.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to organize tasks and activities from patient admission through discharge.
  • Delegate tasks and activities to other healthcare team members appropriately.
  • Perform nursing care activities using techniques that promote safety, reduce risks, and follow policies and procedures.
  • Advocate for patients with families, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to patients' responses, readiness to learn, and level of comprehension.
  • Incorporate cultural, age-specific, gender, and developmental factors into patient and family education about health concerns, disease-specific conditions, self-care, and long-term management of chronic conditions.
  • Follow up promptly on patient and family requests and concerns.
  • Provide care to all age groups using age-appropriate communication techniques.
  • Support patient experience initiatives and lead others in supporting those initiatives.
  • Supervise nursing staff caring for groups of patients.
  • Perform other related work as required or requested.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
  • Two to three years of experience is preferred.
