Head of Payments

Salary Range: 60000 to 100000 (Currency: USD) (Pay period: per-year-salary)

Key Responsibilities

• Payments Strategy & Execution
• Define and lead Bellota’s global payments strategy, balancing performance, cost, and risk across all markets and payment methods.
• Provider Management & Optimization
• Build and manage relationships with PSPs, acquiring banks, and payment networks. Continuously evaluate provider performance (approval rates, fees, settlement times) and optimize routing logic to reduce friction and cost.
• Reconciliation & Cost Oversight
• Oversee end-to-end reconciliation processes across PSPs, banks, and internal systems. Ensure accuracy in financial reporting and payment cost tracking, including interchange, chargebacks, and refunds.
• Fraud, Risk & Compliance
• Partner with fraud prevention and compliance teams to monitor transaction risk, mitigate fraud exposure, and ensure adherence to international regulatory requirements.
• Data-Driven Decision Making
• Own reporting and KPI dashboards for all payment metrics—acceptance rates, cost per transaction, dispute ratios, settlement performance—and provide actionable insights to senior leadership.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Collaborate with Product, Finance, Engineering, and Legal teams to integrate payment systems, launch new markets, and support business expansion with scalable solutions.
• Team Leadership
• Build and lead a high-performing payments team. Provide mentorship, clear goals, and operational frameworks for excellence and accountability.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in global payments, payment operations, or fintech leadership roles
• Deep understanding of PSP integrations, card network rules, interchange fees, and settlement workflows
• Strong analytical and technical foundation; fluency in SQL, Excel/Google Sheets, and payment reporting tools
• Proven track record of managing PSPs, optimizing payment routing, and reducing payment costs
• Experience leading reconciliation, dispute/chargeback management, and cross-border payment operations
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and align cross-functional teams
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, international startup environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in gaming, e-commerce, or fintech industries
• Familiarity with international payments regulations (e.g., PCI DSS, PSD2, AML/KYC)
• Background working with ERP or payment reconciliation systems
• Previous success hiring and managing high-performing payments or finance teams
